| It's generally recommended by trainers to wait until the first puppy is about a year old or until fully trained and housebroken so he can set a good example for a puppy. Remember, puppies go through a teenage stage later in their first year where they test boundaries and often regress in housebreaking also. Having a puppy can make handling this rebellious stage more difficult. Here is a good article on the drawbacks to having two puppies at the same time. Two Puppies or One? - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company! Since you are a college student, I would also be concerned about the double expense of having two. |

| As a college student your future is still unknown. PLease do not make decisions today when 4 (it could 1, 2 or 3) years from now your life will be completely different. It is much easier to try to move, find an apartment, home etc with just one...You need to plan that these dogs will be with you for 15 years. P.S. Only 50% of dogs stay with their original owners - please consider this when making your decisions.

For example, this weekend I'm going to spend the night over at my grandma's house on Sat. night since I haven't seen her in forever.... she has a Lab and a fenced in yard. I'm bringing Jackson and she has no problems with that, if I had 2 dogs, I just don't think I could do it. This summer, doing a vacation in Gettysburg, so we're gonna be doing a lot of walking around thru crowds, eating outdoors, etc, it's easier with just 1 dog. I go to my dads a few times a week and they already have 2 dogs over there. So in MY situation, I've come to the conclusion it's easier/better with just one for now. But I think overall it's better to have 2, lol, if that makes any sense!
