It's generally recommended by trainers to wait until the first puppy is about a year old or until fully trained and housebroken so he can set a good example for a puppy. Remember, puppies go through a teenage stage later in their first year where they test boundaries and often regress in housebreaking also. Having a puppy can make handling this rebellious stage more difficult.

Since you are a college student, I would also be concerned about the double expense of having two.
