Reputable breeders have good health guarantees and stand by their lines, backyard breeders don't. Perhaps you ought to tell your friend about Yorkietalk!

| ![]() That's the thing, you don't know. Even with a reputable breeder there is never a 100% guarantee. What you do get with a good breeder is someone that will stand behind their dog. They want to know the things you find out and support you every step of the way, good times and bad. That's what health guarantees are for.

Reputable breeders test their breeding stock. However, this is never a guarantee that a puppy will not have a problem. What is a guarantee is that a reputable breeder will stand behind their pups, offer a good guarantee and be there for you should anything go wrong....

![]() any puppy can get ill, but it's much more likely to have health problems if its parents are in a puppy mill b/c its parents are not cared for properly. and the other stuff the other posters said!!! i think mardelin's post about purchasing a breeder first is really key!! you have to feel confident that not only is the breeder nice (anyone trying to get this much cash will be nice to you), but that you can trust them!! | ![]() Keep in mind, that often times you will not be able to see the sire. As the female may have been sent out for breeding to a sire. This is done at times when a breeder doesn't have males of their own and/or has their girl bred to a stud that can improve their lines. Or it is very possible that a breeder has the stud that another breeder has sent their female to be bred too. And in lue of a stud fee, recieved a puppy back for the breeding. Both are very common practices amongst reputable breeders. Especially those that exhibit.

| ![]() USDA requires high volume commercial kennels that wholesale puppies to brokers and pet stores to be licensed. I don't know what the particular situation here is, but obviously they met that criteria. |

I'm not sure what puppy she's interested in? But, from my observation there are a few of them that were born in February and no where near to leave their mothers. I see no pictures of parents, no offer of a guarantee. Anybody can pick up the right talk on how to communicate with potential new owners. The internet has made it easy. So, because someone can recite yorkie info, doesn't make them knowledgable. I have reservations when a breeder ships a puppy at such a young age to someone that they've never met. There website says the fully screen new owners; how is that possible when several families don't live locally. Several people have given advice to stay away from these people. MO, is known for puppy mills, brokers, USDA wholesale breeders, etc. My gut feeling is to stay away too. But, in the end it is your friends final decision. I do have a question though, instead of being a go between, why not have your friend become a member of YT, so she can ask her questions and we can answer her directly? Also, and this is probably a moot question, since pups are APRI registered (big red flag), is the pup being sold on a spay/nueter contract (probably not), but another big red flag.

Star you have to know by now that these type of people will say anything and seem nice to sale a puppy. This person IS NOT a reputable breeder and the red flags are there. Your friend is wanting a puppy but doesn't want to listen or do the proper searching for a healthy one. Please tell her to join YT if she has computer access and learn the correct things to look for when searching for a Yorkie. Tell her to have patience and to not think that this is not important. Remember what you went through with Coby. Though he is okay now, she may not be as lucky with a puppy mill Yorkie and end up with a sick or dead puppy. This website you are looking at is for a BROKER, is on the BAD LIST and though she has spoken to someone who says she can come to pick the puppy up, it's all a game!!! Reputable breeders do what it takes to produce HEALTHY and beautiful Yorkies. Test, contracts, guarantees, and YES they cost more. It is worth it! You can still bring clothing with a small dog in an airplane. I don't know where that person got that information from or why she told you that. It goes through the scanner just like peoples. If that were the case people wouldn't be able to bring clothing either. They are now just charging for carry-on bags.

| ![]() Star, You've been around long enough, a member since 2008, to really become educated. Based on your experience and what you've learned here....now is the time to use that education to educate your friend. Your friend may well be receptive to it, all you can do is try. And if she doesn't listen, well you've tried.
