| ![]() I loved your "vent". Sorry you're not getting much peace and quiet out with your yorkie, but let's face it....they are a loveable breed. Now mind you, I don't like anyone coming up and touching my yorkie either so I understand what you are saying. And when they ask how much....I just ask them why they want to know...r they getting one...and if so, the price shouldn't matter if they love the pup! Good luck at the park....but I doubt it will get better..even if you could teach your pup to nip on command lol!! ![]()

| ![]() I have been walking down to the school to pick up my 6 year old granddaughter, and taking Mr. Darcy. He loves the walk - but - when we get in there he goes balistic. I hold him in my arms, and he wiggles and squirms until he is up around my neck. All the little ones know him now, and come running up when the bell rings. All their reaching hands in his face, I guess, and their little? voices greeting him is too much for him. I have stopped taking him!!!!!!!!! We go on our own walk, earlier, with my 4 year old grandson and his bicycle - so everyone is happy - Aidan with his bicycle - Mr. Darcy on his walk, sniffing - and me because HOPEFULLY I am loosing weight - ha!!!! ![]()

YT Addict | ![]() Yes, it was a joke (my very good friend is a dog trainer for personal protection dogs and I can’t say I haven’t been tempted to bring Miss Lula to a class or two)… but teaching her to bite would probably be more dangerous for her than the humans 50 times her size who may humanly react. When I get out of a long stressful day of being yelled at by fashion designers, Trump’s employees or bridezillas (or worse, their mothers!) and I drive home to my little pumpkin jumping in circles because she knows its walk time (if I come home on lunch, she knows better and continues her hard day of naps), you better believe the first thing I do is grab her leash. I live about 6 blocks from the downtown area, it is a perfect little walk to the park. Me and my Lula, shaking our little tails as we enjoy our quiet walk down brick sidewalks and the newly blooming trees. Seeing how happy she is as she prances down the street slightly erases the people that I’m paid to smile at. On our way we pass a park littered with children, we do not enter, we do not stop, we don’t even look at the screaming beasts. By now I’m sure you picked up that I do not like children. I know, I know, “someday ill have children of my own and I’ll think differently” blah blah blah. In the meantime the last thing I want to do when I get out of work is entertain someone’s children who have no idea how to handle a delicate 3 pound dog. I am not a babysitter, a teacher, or a clown. I do not want to spend my time USING my dog as a teaching tool of how NOT to handle a dog. I cringe when I see a child running for my dog like she is some type of toy. Don’t get me wrong, there are those”children types” that I don’t mind. When a little girl walks up and shyly (((ASKS))) if she can pet my dog I will happily stop and let her gently pet Lula. Lula loves the attention and who am I to deny her a SAFE new friend? I live for my dog and could very easily bring my book out to the back yard to be alone (and trust me I have tried) but that won’t fly with the little fur butt, and it’s hard to concentrate with constant whining. So, walk it is. When Lula and I arrive downtown we walk into her favorite dog store for a beef treat (I need to remember to pick up the chicken ones today) and I stop at my favorite coffee shop for a coffee treat. We walk the boardwalk and find a nice little area under a tree to relax. We are not on the boardwalk or a path, normally several feet from it. Real people, who calmly walk up to my dog and (((ASK))) if they can say hello don’t really bother me as much as the real people who act like children-people and rush me like we are playing a game of football and Lula is the ball. As of yet I have not snapped into the rude person waiting inside like a tiger ready to attack! :P I’m worried that at some point, some person is going to catch me on the wrong day and I’m afraid I will get snappy at them. Generally I do what another member wrote and count slowly before I answer. I save the venting for forums like this. Angry? Yes, I can get very angry when people are inconsiderate and outright obnoxious yet expect me to be pleasant and tolerate their harassment? Bitter? Why yes, I am a bitter woman but that’s a long ex-boyfriend story for another day. As long as these rude strangers don’t leave dirty dishes in my sink, I don’t think we’ll have a problem. Bottom line, I didn’t get a dog so I could receive unwanted attention from strangers. My dog is my companion. I have met some awesome people due to Lula (ehem, hey YM Members! *waves* ![]()

And about you not caring for kids well I have three kids who get on my ends who I truly LOVE but there are some out there who do need to mind there manners. I speak to them in a polite stern voice and that normally does the trick, or tell their parents politely. Sometimes I think grown ups are worse but hey that's just me. Well Good Luck and hopefully you will find some peace and quiet somewhere. ![]()

| ![]() We have people that try to take our pup right out of our arms. We tell them she will pee on them. That usually does the trick.

| ![]() wozzers! lol. i guess some people can't sense sarcasm all that well. especially bostonians sarcasm like the OP. if someone's reading a book leave them alone. don't interrupt them to start a 30 minute conversation with them. basic rules of etiquette IMO. a 5 minute conversation is different than an hour conversation about your dog, especially when you can tell someone is engaged in just relaxing, or reading a book. i have to laugh at the OP, it was hilarious and also at some of the all so serious responses from others. |

| ![]() Back when we had Hailey, I used to tell people she had ringworm when mommies wanted to know if their little angels could pet her with their sticky, dirty little hands. They backed off quickly. You know how little kids pet a dog - clobber clobber on their poor little head. |
