Either leave the dog behind or find another spot that is not so public. You cannot have it both ways unfortunately. We humans just love small mammals to death! That is our nature. Asking "dumb and irritating" questions comes with the territory and we all hafta deal with them when we take our dogs out, especially if we dress them up in clothes and bows like they are our "children". BTW, my dog wears neither but she still draws a crowd where ever she goes. Vent all you want, but it ain't a gonna change a thang. By now you must expect someone to ask how much you paid for your dog. Why does that bother you? Just tell them she "cost enough" and be done with it. Well, I won't tell them to EFF OFF. But I DO think it's rude to be asking how much she costs. I admire other peoples' little dogs and puppies too - but I don't go around asking "how much did you spend"??? It's great that they want to pet her and give her attention - helps her to socialize. I just don't like the financial grilling. I'll be working on my response for future outings! Polite but . . .not gonna tell how much I spent. Maybe 'enough' is the right answer.
