So sorry to hear this, Redlands is such a lovely town, and if something like that can happen there. it can happen anywhere. Dognapping should be considered a serious crime, more serious than a simple thief. I'm so sorry for the family. The Biewer world is a fairly small world; I hope that they will be on the look-out.

This is just awful!! I so hope that this lil guy is returned to his family and soon! I bet he is so scared! Poor baby! His family must be devastated! I am praying for his safe return!

Dee, I'm so sorry this happened. How awful and heartbreaking, I know how bad it hurts. We had a Yorkie stolen several years ago. He was microchipped, but nobody scans them unless they show up in a shelter or pound. Vets never scan as far as I know. I hope the family has better luck getting him back than we had. My heart goes out to them.

How someone can do this is beyond me! Makes me so mad.

I've heard that many vets scan a dog if a person brings in a new dog without vet records. Every dog should have some type of vet records to show that he's had previous shots, and if a dog doesn't any, the vet should scan for a chip. This is another law I'd like to see passed.

It is heartbreaking when a dog goes missing for whatever reason, but I think the owners feel even more pain when it is stolen.

That's a great idea for a law to passed that if a dog comes in without records that they have to be checked for a microchip! I'm going to go do some research and see where my state stands on that! I have several friends that are representatives in our state's general assembly! One is a huge dog lover...wonder if she would be willing to sponsor it! Sorry just talking out loud!

If it was a jewelry store then they MUST have had a security camera. Maybe they'll get something from that. Sounds like a premeditated ransom job.

Yes, they did have security cameras get a photo of the thief. The police also have cameras outside--it is a corner store location--and they are checking to see if she got into a vehicle......keep praying.

Yes, TJ was microchipped--that is one thing that I always do before the dog's final check-ups before placement.

I would like to see more vets check for microchips.....especially when someone brings in a dog/puppy for the first time.

The family is devastated, of course. Let's keep praying and I really hope the police are able to id the thief.....and recover the dog. What a horrible thing to happen to any family.

I'll update if I hear anything.

Very heartbreaking - I do know why some people are called "the scum of the earth". I hope they get him back - maybe who took him did not realize he was a rare breed, and could be traced - maybe they just liked the look of him....here's hoping. Funny, my Toffee was born July 4th - she is in Heaven now - and still missed very much.
