| I'm facing this dilema myself, trying to plan a trip and figuring out what to do with a 6 month old that is "sort of" potty trained! We had another dog for 16 years that relatives watched if we traveled and I said I would never again ( what I thought ), impose on them and assume that if we decided to get another pet that they would take on the responsibility while we were away. That leaves us with boarding her at the vets office, having someone actually come to our home daily, or a sitter that takes dogs in to their home...all viable solutions. The least desirable would be to give someone access to our home, as there would be no one I would trust enough to do that. The vets office would be the second least desirable for me because of the alone factor, although they even have cameras set up in each room so that you can view your pet while away. Which leaves us with the pet sitter...but Chloe must be "potty trained", hence my problem. I would say she's "sort of" potty trained, but I can't say she doesn't have her accidents and I'm not sure exactly how strict the sitter is about this. I plan on contacting her today before moving forward with any vacation plans. Since traveling is such a big part at this point in our lives, I'm very anxious about working something out soon! Good luck to everyone else that's faced with this dilema! |

| So sorry to hear your friend backed out. I can completely understand your concern. Remy usually stays with family when I travel, and he can not come along. It sounds like that is not an option for you for this trip either... I would be very hesitant to board him at a kennel or vet... my ultimate fallback plan for an overnight sitter is my groomer. She dog sits in her own home, and watches 3 other yorkies on occasion. I've never actually had to use her, but I have had discussions with her about watching him, if in the event, it ever became necessary. Do you use one specific groomer that you really trust? If so, you may want to reach out to him / her to see if they pet-sit, or know someone who will. Best of luck! |

| I know what you mean. We like to go to Vegas a couple times a year. We have been looking at all boarding places. I would'nt put a dead horse (lol just a expression) in them. Also, ask how many times do they take them out potty. The nicest one we found said twice. Now I can't hold it that long. I think we will go with our neighbor. She is wonderful, we do pay her but hate to bother her. She is willing tho and our pup will get out side many times. She has taken care of our dogs in the past but lets face it a Yorkie has high energy. We are all older people here. Our pup likes to potty at 5 in the mornings and 8 before bed time. Our neighbor cannot be here at that time. The boarding places aren't even open at that time. So if you can find a great neighbor that is the way to go. We pay the same as the kennels. Our neighbor would care for pup for nothing but we want to pay her. Taking care of a Yorkie can be work.

| Ok, more to add to the drama. My mother has now offered to take Roxie for the 5 days we are away. Her and my dad are home all day (he's retired and she is recovering from carpal tunnel surgery). However, they haven't had dogs since I was a kid...which is over 25 years ago. They had a mixed breed who spent most of his time outside. Nothing like the spoiled little Yorkie I have They said they would keep her in the playroom downstairs and they do have a nice, huge yard to take her out in. What would you do if you were me? Should I give my parents a shot? If it doesn't go well they will never let me forget it

| Yes, give them a chance. Us old folks know what we are doing! After all, your parents seemed to do a good job raising you! |

| Of course you should!!!......they will fall in love with her - how could they not? The only thing they might never forgive you for will be taking her back to your place!!!!!!
