I'm facing this dilema myself, trying to plan a trip and figuring out what to do with a 6 month old that is "sort of" potty trained! We had another dog for 16 years that relatives watched if we traveled and I said I would never again ( what I thought ), impose on them and assume that if we decided to get another pet that they would take on the responsibility while we were away. That leaves us with boarding her at the vets office, having someone actually come to our home daily, or a sitter that takes dogs in to their home...all viable solutions.
The least desirable would be to give someone access to our home, as there would be no one I would trust enough to do that. The vets office would be the second least desirable for me because of the alone factor, although they even have cameras set up in each room so that you can view your pet while away. Which leaves us with the pet sitter...but Chloe must be "potty trained", hence my problem. I would say she's "sort of" potty trained, but I can't say she doesn't have her accidents and I'm not sure exactly how strict the sitter is about this. I plan on contacting her today before moving forward with any vacation plans.
Since traveling is such a big part at this point in our lives, I'm very anxious about working something out soon! Good luck to everyone else that's faced with this dilema! |
