| I hope everyone reads this!!!! Dennis got his collar firmly caught in his little mouth this morning. Thank the good Lord that I was here to cut it off him. The buckle was so tight and firmly set over his teeth that the only thing that I could do was to grab him and rush him into the bathroom so he could not escape. I have had this happen with 3 of my little one’s in the past and when they are so young they just run in circles, bobbing their little heads up and down getting more frantic and scared with every movement that only seems to solidify a worsening situation! I am convinced that if I had not been here he would have been killed! This is the first collar that I bought him that fit him perfectly and I was not worried about, ironic ha! I am always with Dennis but today I was thinking about leaving him for a couple of hours, perhaps the day so I could help out a friend with some plumbing problems. Well I won’t be leaving him, and I won’t for a long time leave him with a collar on! I just wanted to warn every one of the dangers that lurk. I know some of you are aware of a puppy that was lost last May or June in a similar situation, in fact that same day or weekend two little yorkies went over the Rainbow Bridge. I just want everyone to be cognizant of this so we don’t loose anymore little love bunnies! Boy I gotta tell you I am still shaking! Sue |

| I am happy to hear nothing serious happened to your Dennis. Any foreign item on our Yorkie's can potentially cause harm and should be watched. As mentioned, it is just never safe to leave collars/harness/necklaces/clothes, etc on our babies when left alone. Dennis has a good Mommie keeping such an eye out. Hugs to your fur baby!!

| Thank God Dennis is OK and thanks for the heads up as well. We've had a lot of new members join since that horrible weekend last spring. Everyone needs to know about these dangers. Thanks for sharing your story.

| This same thing happened to Desi, thank God I was home to deal with it. She some how got her bottom jaw under her collar and it was stuck in her mouth. Which is why, if I'm going out, I take off her collar. Not to mention, stories I've heard of dog accidently strangling themselves when their collars became caught.

| Billy has done the same, it is sooooooo scary, now I only put collars on when I am around him, just incase it was to happen again. |

| Yeah this used to happen to coco too. But only if the collar was loose and she was able to get her mouth on it. I now never leave her in the house with a collar on. Her collar is only on when we go outside. Not only that but that constant jingling with her tags on her collar got to be annoying especially at night when I was trying to sleep. |

| I'm glad Dennis is fine and mom was there to save him. They are escape artists. Anything they have on, they will try to get out of it at some point if they don't like it. Please don't use collars... When mine are home, they don't wear anything. Mine wears a harness only when we go out or go for a walk. Thanks for the reminder.

| Thank God Dennis is ok and you were right there. Mac & Mellie only wear their harnesses when they are going for a walk, becuase I am afraid of exactly this happening. I don't let them wear clothes when I am not with them either for the fear it may get caught on something.

| Thanks for telling us because it is very important, especially for new YTerrs to hear. I keep my dogs naked if I am not home to watch them.
