| Thank you so much for sharing your story. Even though that must have been an incredibly scary experience, it’s so good that we can all learn from each other here on YT. Bridget and I send you lots of good wishes and are so glad that Dennis is okay. I removed Bridget’s collar as soon as I read your post. You can never be too careful. |

I just don’t want this to happen to anyone else if I can help it. I know we would all be so heart broken to hear of it happening again as it did last May or June. That was one horrible weekend that still brings tears to my eyes. I think one of the babies was named Chewey. I think, if memory serves she decided to leave him and go to the beach for a couple of hours and when she got back the little guy had gotten his collar tangled up in the mesh of the playpen. Not quite the same thing, but collars none the less can be dangerous and should not be left on them when they are alone. It still breaks my heart thinking of this lady because she loved him so much. Does anyone know if she did get another little one? I hope she did. | |

| Wow...I remember reading about little Mocha getting caught in her collar in her crate. Thanks for the reminder!

| So glad to hear your baby is ok ! We don't even own collars for our babies, just for that reason. Be careful of anything they are wearing, tags can get caught too from on a harness. Everyone has to keep their eyes on these babies all the time, they are quick but we have to be 'quicker' to protect them from harm. Always have your vets "EMERGENCY TEL. NO." handy at home, and I always "CARRY A CARD" with me also at all times, just in case we are out and an emergency occurs, the number is ALWAYS with me. I may sound overly protective but I feel safe knowing that I can call my vet in any emergency anytime, home or away. Last edited by Yorkie24U; 10-16-2005 at 10:09 AM. |

| I know of an instance when the dog's tags got caught in the heat vent. The owner was there but it is scary..I do not use any collars and rarely harnesses. BUT, I do recommend a harness and leash in the car. In case of incident, the dog can be protected from getting away in traffic. ALSO, I ALWAYS have stickers on both doors that tell emergency workers that there are dogs (or cats) in the house. I used to put how many but decided that was not a good thing.. |
