| Nervous mommy during spay. Need prayers & positive thoughts! We took Tessie this morning for her spay appointment. I was so nervous leaving her, but I am positive that she is in good hands. They said that she would go into surgery at 11am and now that it's just after 11-- I am getting REALLY nervous. They said they would call me probably a little after 1pm to let me know how she is doing. I'm at work and thought it would help keep my mind off of the surgery, but of course she's all I can think about. I truly believe in the power of prayer, so I would appreciate any and all prayers and special thoughts for my sweet baby's recovery. She is mine and my husbands little baby. Thank you so much!

| I got the call and she is doing good!! They said that everything went well in the surgery and she is doing fine. They did say that they still have the IV in her and they will continue to monitor as they have her on a heating pad to keep her warm. So for the most part- she is "out of the woods" or the worst is over at least. I can't wait to see her for myself to make sure that she is ok, but they said that I will need to wait until after 4:30pm...which can't come soon enough!! Thank you so much grocafe & Connie for your positive words of encouragement and prayers! It really helps!! I will definitely keep you and your babies in my thoughts. I can definitely attest to how hard it is. I'll post again after I've gotten her home to let you know how she is doing. I know that it helped me to read positive stories of successful spay surgeries before I took Tessie. She is a tiny little girl at approx. 3.4lbs and I was really worried about the surgery, anesthesia, etc. but I knew that it was the right thing to do because of the consequences of not spaying- pyometra, etc. Thank you again for the positive thoughts & prayers!

| So glad to hear that your baby did well today. I know how nervous you are. Just remember... when you pick your baby up, pick her up from the underarm and the butt. Just don't pick her up under the arms so her little belly stretches. That would hurt her. Keep her belly from stretching. Good luck and get well soon baby!!!

| Thank you all so much for the positive words and thoughts. It really helped me get through the day. It was really hard seeing her so pitiful when I picked her up this afternoon. She is sooo tiny, but such a sweet & strong little girl. Quote:

| Sorry for being so slow on the follow-up post. It was so hard seeing her so pitiful the first night. We had a hard time getting her to eat or drink, so we finally decided to give her Nutrocal--which she licked up -- and we were also able to get her to drink water only from a syringe. I was able to spend all day at home with her on Wednesday (day after surgery) and she basically laid in my lap all day. I am so glad that I was able to "baby" her all day. By the afternoon she finally ate a little real food with a treat and also drank water out of her bowl. The vet sent home pain meds which we were instructed to give to her twice daily and I can tell that it has definitely eased the pain and helped her rest. By today, (Thursday- 3rd day) she seems so much better. She is still very tired and not back to normal, but she is eating better and drinking water on her own. And she's back to giving us lots of kissies She is such a strong little girl- especially to be so tiny. We are so blessed to have such a sweet little girl and sooo happy that everything went well with her surgery. I know that so many are nervous about the decision to spay and/or teeth clean due to putting our precious babies asleep, which I struggled with, but I'm happy to post another success story. Thanks again to everyone for the positive thoughts & prayers!

| I'm so glad this was a happy success story! I'm so thankful all went well and it sounds like she's recovering well. I wondered about the onesies being too big. I was looking online for preemie onesies, but couldn't find any, so thought newborn would be the only possibility. How old is Tessie? Faith will be 10 months old at the time of her spay and she weighs close to Tessie. Maddie, Faith and Libby send get well wishes and kisses to Tessie!
