| Kennel Club?????? I bought my Yorkie here in Florida last year. He had papers to send away for the Continental Kennel Club - which I did. I got his papers back with mother and father - probably no champions...anyway I would like to buy a female and maybe breed them - would this be OK as I would probably buy her in Canada, so mixed papers!!!! |

| If your male is registered with the Continental Kennel Club and your female is registered with the Canadian Kennel Club you would not be able to register puppies with the Canadian Kennel Club, they do not recognize the Continental Kennel Club as a reputable registry (because they are not). |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm one of those people that believe only the best of the best should be bred. We have so many pet quality yorkies available now, and shelters are turning away dogs, please don't breed unless there is a real desire and passion there, then don't breed the dog you have, but find special breeding dogs and a mentor. Breeding should never be taken lightly, what you do effects so many people's lives for years to come. Here's a great link for those thinking about breeding, and it's so informative for those who just are looking for qualities in a good breeder. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-answered.html I don't think Contential Kennel Club dogs should be bred, they aren't always purebred for one thing, the CKC takes the breeders "word" for it.

Now if you had bought your first dog and it was AKC, then yes you could have registered the pups with Canada Kennel Club. Last edited by topknot; 03-01-2010 at 01:47 PM. | |

I was only responding back to the OP. And yes, it is easy to register with Contintental. I was in no way saying that All yorkies depending on the registration are to standard and that breeders should not be researched. The puppies are registered by the breeder. And therefore it is up to the ethics and honesty of the breeder and his/her knowledge of the standard whether as to how the pups s/he produces - quality. Continental does not do inspections, as I am aware of right now nor do DNA testing, but - AKC does. So why get on to me. As I stated before I was only answering the OP's question. I prefer AKC and would only own AKC (since they do inspections and DNA and have shows for evaluating the breeds by judges, and have health seminars) - that is my preference. Is it perfect? no - but IMHO the best so far. I have been around yorkies since 1979 and know about the other registries and still I would only own AKC registered dogs. JMO One should always do their research and know the breed standard and check out the breeders to make sure they are ethical and breed high quality yorkies (to the standard and evaluated) that are sound and healthy.
