| I've used that model too. Being that I groom and exhibit it just didn't do the precision trimming I wanted it to do. Didn't take the hair on the ears down close enough and didn't give me the sharp edges I wanted on the ears.

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | how close do you get down to the ears when you shave them? this was the exact trimmer i used on Mei Ling and i think it took off way to much hair...i mean to the skin and then of course we been fighting that nasty Winter Leathery Ears on Mei Ling due to it...but finally after who knows how long...at least a year...we are finally getting over it...and the hair on her ears are finally growing back...and i am sorta leary about shaving them when they get too long...crossing fingers that it will eventually because it was one heck of a battle...hehehe

Trimming down to the skin does not cause Leather ear. It is a fungus caused by moisture, that can be contracted even in the summer months too, especially if you live in high humidity areas. The best way to treat that is when you see traces of it beginning is to immediately rub with aldohol swabs and apply 2% lotrimon. You will never get back the hair growth like it should be.

| The dog may get to 6 mos. or older before thier ears stand up. I never did a thing to Zeke's because I like all the hair on them and they eventually stood up. There is no big hurry. If they are going to stand up they will eventually do it on their own. |

| Not always so......with the weight of the hair on the ears it can break down the cartladge....and ears will never stand up. A good breeder will assit in helping them.

| My Sydney's ears never did stand after taping We did all those things, took her to the groomer shaved her ears like suggested, taped them several days on several days off as directed when she was about 4/5 mo old and they never did stand up. To me her ears seem large for her size even though she is a purebred. She hated it and fought us all the way.....We just gave up and decided to love her ears floppy! If I don't put her bangs in a bow or clip people always thing she is a Lhasa Apso or some other breed. She is also very large at 11lbs. But we love her just the same. Here is her picture with Oliver our cat. Mom to Sydney Rose Lacey Rose Foster Mommy to Rocco and Rizzo I miss you every day |
