that happened to us also! Tiggy was 3 yrs old, our only yorkie & we had three huge cats they all ignored each other pretty much. I brought my 8 week old Precious home & Tiggy was pissed! He hated her, started peeing on my brand spankin new $1000 sofa, I had to referee for the next two weeks. He snipped at her, and she would just cower wondering what she did wrong, my poor baby! After the two weeks, he wouldn't even let ME near her without growling at me lol! Now, 4 years later, Precious runs the household. Just be patient and give them time, but watch them while playing together, they will be bffs before you know it!

I'm reading these comments from everyone with interest because in 2 weeks my husband and I will bring home our 2 new puppies. The Yorkie brothers (age 12 weeks) will then meet their 2 big (for now) sisters our 6 year old Maltese. We are going to introduce them gradually so that hopefully everybody gets along quickly. We have always been a multiple dog family we will do whatever it takes to make our new foursome work.

I would attach pics when there snuggling each other but I don't want to fill this up with pics

My only advise is to watch them closely, soon they will know not to play to rough in their sence.

Gabby is very young herself, and once she realizes how much fun this new little one will be..they will be inseparable!! Give them some time, and just watch them closely.

Since they are both still puppies, I think they should adjust rather quickly. Sometimes play fights still sound scary and little puppies yelp even though they are not really getting hurt.

That said, I would still supervise them closely and keep them separated unless you are right there.

We used baby gates to give each one their own 'space' at times and introduced gradually.

I had a jealous 3 year old Westie who was none too thrilled with this little young upstart trying to take his place. We had to give him more attention than we gave the puppy at the beginning; to keep his jealousy in line and improve their relationship.

Do everything first for your first dog; first treat; first greeting; first eating; first out the door . . .you get it.

Things will settle down soon.

Congratulations on your new puppy! As many people have posted, it does get better. I'm on day 5 1/2 and things are steadily improving between my boys.

Lucy used to do that (and still does); it works well to her advantage! She can be hanging all over Ringo - biting his ears; paws, climbing on his back . . but if he so much as growls at her or puts her in her place - she squeals like she is dying.

I've always gone over to check things out and there has NEVER BEEN A MARK ON HER. And that's even when Ringo was being kind of mean, at first. Now, SHE is usually the one NIPPING at him - but he does have a fierce growl.

Anyway, it IS very effective, her 'I'm dying' squeal, because I come running over and she gets away from Ringo for a minute - only to go right back to biting at his ears the minute she gets the chance.

Puppies are very dramatic!

Of course, you still need to make sure she is not getting hurt but I'm just sayin . . . .

Wow...on the 17th, this puppy was 12 weeks old and on the 23rd (6 days later) - he was 14 weeks old....I've heard dogs age in "dog years", but wow, that's some serious aging, LOL
