Holy Crackin' Nuts - what have I done!!! Brought home my new puppy tonight. Could not wait to introduce him to Gabby. They said hello, smelled butts, smelled noses, smelled butts, again, and came out fighting. They hate each other!!!! What am I going to do?? |
Well, you could always give the new puppy to me <wink> |
How old are they? That does not sound like a puppy. |

Give it some time. I am sure it will get better. |
Mine did that too! Now they love each other! You have to give them time and supervise supervise supervise! It will take at least 2 weeks. Always give your first dog the attention because it will get jealous and possibly take it on the new pup. Good luck! |
you could put a babygate up and put them in seprate rooms where there can smell each other , but not get to each other --gives them time to adjust, without hurting each other. ive done this and it helped them adjust---they need time, cuz your first baby is feeling jealous. |
mine hated each other at the start too. give them time... introduce them slowly... keep them apart, give them lots of ALONE time, and only let them be together a little bit each day, extending that time each day! Mine LOVE each other but it did take a few months to get there. |
Uh-OH! Good Luck, I hope things settle down soon! |

Gabby is almost 5 months. The puppy is 14 weeks |
We experienced the same thing when we got Bristol. Gracie was 6 months at the time. It gets better. Supervise and give Gabby lots of love so she doesn't feel left out. |

How old was the puppy? |
they could just be playing? I have a 1yr old tomorrow mini dachshund and he plays w/ my puppy, its sometimes gets rough and I have to stop it but noone gets hurt.;) just have to keep a close eye on them |
I thought they were playing, but the baby starting yelping and crying. It was pitiful. |
Well, they say you're supposed to introduce them to each other on neutral ground. We're already past that now. So, you are now a referee!:D Seriously, I'm sure in time it will work out and they'll be best friends. |
Many years ago...I introduced my dog to a new one coming in...it was scary at first. I was calling dog people in a panic. It turned out well after a short time and they became the best of friends. When they both adjusted, it was fun watching them interact and play together. |
