| I Am So Pissed I Could Die I just checked my voicemail and I had a message from my aunt who lives 5 houses down from me. She is a huge dog lover and has a Cocker. Anyway, on my voicemail she says that she was driving past my house on her way to work and a Yorkie ran in front of her car. She slammed on her breaks and didn't hit it. She went up on the curb, too to avoid it. By this time I am crying listening to the voicemail. She thought it was Stewie so she got out to see if it was him. It wasn't (I knew that because I left him securely in the house when I left this morning). So SHE KEPT DRIVING when she realized it wasn't him. She said that she couldn't stop because if she was late for work one more time she would be fired. I am crying here at my desk at work. I am so pissed at her for not stopping. :'( That could be one of our babies out there. I called my mom and she said not to worry because someone probably found him. My coworker asked me why I was crying and I told her what happened. She said she woudn't have stopped either because "you never know what diseases they have". UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh

| I don't know how you could not stop either. I accidently hit a squirrel that ran across the road and was so upset you would have thought I hit a person. So I could not imagine not stopping for a dog and seeing if I could get a address off his tag or doing something. Hopefully the dog is safe at home or at least I can pray he/she is.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that she said that there s/he wasn't wearing a collar or tags. Otherwise I am SURE she would have brought him/her home.

| I know have a yorkie in my neighborhood that runs loose and goes in the street. Next time I see him I am gonna grab him and I know who he belongs to. People that let dogs run loose dont deserve to have them.

| I don't blame you for being upset. Some people are just beyond understanding. Maybe you could call someone to check to see if the little guy is still out there somewhere. Sue |

| This is a very unfortunate situation and I may be the lone dissnter here. I understand you being upset but if I were in her shoes, and I would be fired if I stopped I would not have stopped. I would have called animal control to let them know there was a lost dog and where I saw it but I wouldn't lose my job and livelyhood for a dog that was lost. May sound mean but my bills and family come first. Last edited by Wolftrap; 10-12-2005 at 08:36 AM. |

| I'm not mad @ her for not risking losing her job. I called my next door neighbors to see if they could look for him/bring him in, but they're not home. I just wish she would have put him/her in my yard or her yard so I could find the owner when I got home from work. I know how easily this could happen. For example, people cut thru my yard to get to the next street (a "busy" street) and leave my gates open. I always check to make sure they are closed, but if I didn't know any better, or if I was a new dog owner, or even new to the neighborhood I may not be as cautious or know better. I feel sorry for the dog and his owner

| I can relate to this from a personal standpoint! When Pippa got out last May and went missing all night, our neighbor across the street saw her at about 1pm (we didn't get home to discover her missing until 3pm). He is a college student and said he called to her and she ran back over to our front porch, so he figured she'd stay there. He was late to class and didn't pursue it. We found all this out while we were canvassing the neighborhood and she was still missing. It was heartwrenching to think that she was RIGHT THERE and he could have picked her up if he was persistent. How I wanted to turn back time!! Thankfully, she was found the next morning, but of course we thought she was gone for good. If ever I am in a situtation and see an obviously well-cared for dog I will stop and try to get it and find the owner. I know I would want someone to do it for me.
