| The advice you got is all very good. We are planning a road trip back east also but we are driving a VW camper bus so we won't have to deal with motel/hotel situations (unless we decide to take a break from camping). I'd love to take Sunshine to the beach once the weather is warmer. His sire and dame both love romping in the sand from what their humans told us

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Ya! Or beer bottle caps! We found 5 or so the last time at our timeshare! I was livid and complained! Didn't have a dog with me, but still!!! QUOTE=Maximo;3005508]Small safety tip: before allowing your pet to roam the hotel room, check the floor very carefully, including under the beds, for anything that may have been left behind that could be a general health or choking hazard. (for instance, someone may have dropped an earring) Take a look around the room for electrical cords or other hazards that you would take care of at home.[/QUOTE] |

| I wouldn't leave Sophie for more than an hour or so and only on one of the nights were gone. I'll leave the TV on for her and hopefully she'll nap. We are going to see our son who's back in the U.S. from deployment after a year and meet his girlfriend for the first time. We want to take them to dinner someplace nice and not have to sit on the bed to eat, ha,ha. The car running thing is a good idea for a quick bite. After that one evening Sophie will be with us all the time. No family member can watch her while we're gone so it was either this way or board her which we don't do.

| You have already gotten excelletn advice! I just wanted to add I have always taken Maddie with us and we stay in much nicer hotels than we did before her. Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Best Western. Most the budget hotels we might usually pick were not pet friendly Good luck to you! |

| We just returned from a 1840 mile road trip with Sophie. We stopped at rest areas and let her walk around and do her business. She did great. We stayed at pet friendly hotels and it worked wonderfully. We stayed at Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn and Best Western. All of them were very nice places (updated, clean & smelled good) and they all allowed Sophie to stay in the room while we were out for a little while for dinner and such. Sophie wasn't ever alone for very long. She stayed in her doggie den and napped and housekeeping was able to come in to clean the room. Not a peep out of her, she was terriffic. Here's some photos of our travelin' yorkie. Sophie loved the trip. Hope you have a great time on yours

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | That is AWESOME!!! Thanks for sharing. I hope our little Molly is as good as yours when she is all better and the time comes for us to travel this summer. I am a bit nervous about the one though beacause I am going to sneak her into our timeshare end of June. (I really need to get one of those carseats. ![]() Quote:

| I did find that most of the upscale hotels are pet friendly and were able to leave them in the room unattended. I leave my cell phone # with the front desk should there be any problems. When I arrive I look for house keeping to let them know we are traveling with pup's and they get a time frame for cleaning so I can remove the pup's. If your nice and give them a tip they will clean your room first thing in the morning. One of our favorite pet friendly vacations is Outer Banks NC We stay in the Pine Island Area where the beach is pet friendly.

Wow, I've never heard of a beach that doesn't allow dogs. I guess the Texas beaches aren't that picky because I've seen dogs on them all my life. But then our beaches aren't that clean either with years of oil spills
