| ![]() Bandit lifts his leg to pee, but only to pee, not to mark. He had his thing get stuck out 2 times when he was humping things and we had to put it back in with lube....it wasn't too gross but it's not something I'd like to do everyday lol. The only "gross" thing about male dogs I thing is when they are large and unneutered lol. As long as you're getting him neutered, no aesthetic grossness to worry about lol |

| ![]() Gunnar was neutered at 6 months. He used to squat to pee, then he changed to lifting his right leg a little bit, which he still does even outside. He sometimes does a hump here and there. I've never seen the "lipstick". He will be 1-1/2 on the 21st of this month. ![]()

| ![]() Oh my goodness! I have a boy (about 4 months old) and I have never even thought about some of this stuff...but it is really good to know! ![]() Rucker at four months still squats to pee. He has never even tried to lift his leg, but he does try to hump my little girl's (she's 5) leg at times. She says, "Mommy, look....he's giving me a hug!" lol

| ![]() my boys have always been neutered and still show their carrot. boys make great pets! so do girls! I say get the boy! his carrot won't bother you. they will get along better especially if your little girl is a diva. get him neutered early and he wont mark in your house or out of it. you can get boys neutered at 8 weeks these days :O |

Donating YT 11K Club Member | ![]() Just get him neutered and he prob. won't mark anywhere. Teddy pees and marks in the house but he is not neutered so thats my fault. i had a cavalier king charles male before and he was neutered and he only went on the paper. Oh and Teddy doesn't hump and his 'lipstick' does not come out..like ever

| ![]() I have two of each. 80lb male shelter dog. Lifts when leaving the mail on walks. Never ever has an accident in the house, (and he only goes out to potty) I have never seen anything slip out, ever. He is about 8yrs old. Perfect gentleman. 10lb rescue didn't get neutered until about 1yr old. Never has an accident. Never marks, never shows his equipment either. He's about 3yrs old now. Also the perfect gentleman. And both the most loving pets. The little one worships the ground I walk on. I adore him. The girl Yorkies, cuddle but much more independent personalities than the boys. Yeah, boys rule....but I looove to dress the girls!

| ![]() My two dogs prior to my two current females were toy breed males and there is a bonus to males that no one has mentioned- they are MUCH easier to potty train and are more likely to want to please you as far as training in general for tricks and such. You will see the lipstick on occasion when they are excited someone has come home etc. Both mine were neutered young and never humped or marked. Boys are little boys forever and will play and be silly lifelong where as a girl gets a little more serious with adulthood. I have found both sexes that I have had equally affectionate and wanting to be with you as much as possible but girls seem to handle time apart a little better- just my experience. |

| ![]() I have only one little yorkie girl and she is my first so I can't compare male vs female with yorkie's but I have had rotties for alot of years and once was told that females are more serious and protective because in nature they have the responsibility of their litters. And males tend to be a little more carefree and playful etc. Not sure if it is true or not but it did seem to be the case with our dogs through the years and seems like it would apply to any breed of dog. Just a thought. Though I am sure there are exceptions to the rule, there always are! ![]() |
