| Changing Affections I feel abandoned! When I first got my Yorkie 8 months ago she was MY baby and whenever I was at home she was my shadow, she followed every step I made and if I sat down she wanted in my lap. My husband didn't even want to get another dog after our little rat terrier died. My husband is retired but I still work full-time. He is at home most days and it didn't take him long to get attached to her and spoil her and now it seems that he is her favorite person. Even when I'm home she sometimes sits in his lap and she minds him better than she does me too. Of course, I'm always the bad guy who gives her a bath and scolds her when she's bad, he only plays with her and gives her treats. I keep teasing him that I am going to get me another puppy since he took mine, but I'm afraid he will take over the new puppy too. Of course I'm glad she doesn't miss me and mope all day while I'm gone, but I think my feeling are hurt!!! |

| My Daisy did this to me and she is almost 6 yrs old. That is one reason I got a Yorkie. Pixie loves me and follows me but she loves my husband as well and Pixie is only 5.5 months. Daisy does want me when she isn't feeling well though. She goes nuts for her Dad though and lays with him and wants to be with him. When she was a puppy it was all about me and then I went to visit my daughter for 3 weeks and she switched affections. I know it stinks, but maybe you can do special things with her like walks, and teach her tricks.

| I know your feelings are hurt. She's become a daddy's girl. I've seen this happen before. When you are home on the weekends, does she work her way back into your lap?

| I think female Yorkies prefer men and vice versa. I do everything in the world for Toby but my wife is still his favorite.

| AW! This can be a little upsetting but it's a CUTE story. She is so loved and I am happy for you that your husband is smitten by her after his lost. You could now get a male Yorkie. I bet he'll be waiting for you to come home everyday!

| Moses is my shadow, until it's time to eat or watch TV, then he's daddy's boy. I don't give him anything when I am eating and daddy always gives him something. I guess he won't lay with me because I am always combing him or grooming him somehow. I guess he gets tired of it. But I get to do all the dirty stuff - potty walks, bath, nails, medicine. No wonder they go to daddy before me. |

| One of mine is a Daddy's girl, too. I think it is kind of sweet. Even though I feed her and take her out, her heart belongs to my DH.

| Yes get another one!!! Perfect reason! I guess that's why bf wants to get another one, Uni is a bit more attached to me. Plus she picked ME out they day we got her! I guess bf wants one of his own, and he wants to get a tiny one too! We have a 2009 yorkie calendar that his mom got for us from the 0.99 cent store (like when it was august or something, but just for the cute pics) and he keeps pointing to the little one on the cover, like that's the one I want! LOL

| Ahh, I feel the same way. Ariel has been doing that to me for the past couple of months. Maybe it's because I do all the bathing & disciplining, while my bf only spoils her |

| Sandy was very attached to me when we first brought him home. The bf felt very sad because Sandy just didn't want to play with him! Sandy would only come to him when he has food. Nowadays, Sandy's playing more with him. He gets so excited when the bf comes home from work. He'll bring his toys and come to him to show him he wants to play. Sandy only comes to me now when he wants my food |

| I am feeling the pain too!!!!! Got my first yorkie, my idea and my husband wasn't interested in dog at all. Was not long until my sweet kind husband took over my dog. So along can yorkie number 2 another male and my husband insisted that it I even touch the second yorkie I whould show attention to the first one. So I tried to do that and it so backfired on me. The second yorkie got attached to my first yorkie and my HUSBAND. He has them sitting with him at night and I the multi-tasker is up all the time. I do the dirty work with correctiong and bathing and they adore my husband. I just got a little girl who is about 2 years old and is attached to females. She is by my side like glue. But my husband is trying to win her over and I telling you I am fixin to draw the line. I am not getting another yorkie and he needs to keep his paws for my little girl.lol I did not think it would bother me but it has. O well it is good to know there are other out there with this wonderful but painful problem. |
