That is way too much money to charge that lady. I personally dont think that how much money a person is willing to pay to purchase a mixed breed unpapered dog has any bearing on how great of an owner they will be. They just wont be suckered into paying that much for the initial cost of the dog. Thats being smart in my book! In fact, I think I might be offended if someone tried to charge me that much lol.

I agree I told the lady exactly what you said. I even told her I would help her process of getting a rescue dog if she needed me to. I wasn't trying to rip her off. I just didnt' want to give my puppy.

I'm not sure what the circumstances were with how she got pregnanant as I have not followed any of this. Personally, there are so many mixed breeds out there or designer dogs as they name named them that I think $400 is a very very fair price. If you don't need the money and you weren't planning on selling and only looking for a good home for them, then why no take the $400 and donate it to a shelter or half to the shelter and then return the other half AFTER the little on this woman is getting is spayed or neutered. This would help prevent more mixed breeds being born and shelters being overpopulated more then they are. Like everyone has posted, I too am just being honest. Elaine

I dont think she meant to offend you when she said your pups werent pure. I just think just like me she has a limit on what she will pay for a mixed dog

Ok, I am confused by this. You are giving three of the puppies away, but won't take the 400.00 from a lady that offered it to you?? The other thing that you mentioned is that a mix is cheaper than a pure bred. That should be ovbious, but your statement makes it sound like you are selling a Yorkie at less than a Yorkie price, when in fact they are not Yorkies. It is misleading because people think that just because it is half Yorkie it will grow up to be Yorkie and that is totally misleading. I hope I am not offending you, as that is not the intent of my post.

It seems to me like they feel they are doing you a favor by getting one but if you could make some dough off of them--they are okay with not getting one. They must not want one if they dont care.

If this had been a planned breeding and had your dog been prescreened with the vet, the puppies had vet checks, tail docking and shots, that would be another story--sell them for what you feel you need to, but I'm not getting the vibe that you had this pregnancy planned.

I really don't think people are meaning to say that purebreds are better then a mixed dog.

I have a purebred yorkie and a yorki-poo. I love them both just the same, I don't treat them any different and they are just as much as a dog as a purebred, its just that some people try to make a living off mixed pups and people don't like that.

I'm sorry if it's confusing. I knew the lady was looking for a pure breed dog I am assuming she couldn't find one for $400, she told my sister that was the amount she was willing to use for a puppy. So she asked me if i would be willing to sell one of my puppy to her for $400. $600 was the first thing that come to mind I didnt' think about it I just wanted to see what she would say. Like I said I already had homes for my puppies (free). What she said just made me think that she doesn't really want a mix breed. So I didn't want to give any puppies to her for any amount NOT EVEN FOR MORE THAN 600.

OP...I wouldn't pay 400 for a mix breed and I know a lot of members on here have stated that. The lady probably thinks the puppies are cute and like the parent dogs...that is why she is offering you 400 instead of getting a purebred. Instead of being insulted you should have been flattered. 400 is a very good offer.

How about a spay for your pup and a neuter for your sisters as well. Just not a good idea to bring more puppies into this world with then ecomony that way it is and so many being brought to shelters.

they feel bad that I wont take money for the puppies. My conditions were vet visit as soon as you pick up the puppy, puppy classes, neuter, heartworm meds etc. and the puppy stays on EVO until adulthood.

Ok, I get now what you are saying. I think I may have to agree with you that is basically what I am saying. If she thinks it will grow up to look like a Yorkie, she will be sadly dissappointed. I mean, I guess some take on more traits of one or the other parent as apparent in your puppies, but they will still be a mixed breed, and not likely to look pure bred at all. I too would hate for her to later decide it is not what she really wanted..
