| Keeping Yorkies warm How do you keep your dogs warm? It's 9 degrees here, and even I don't want to go out. I put some pee pads in the house, we'll see how that goes, but I do have to take him out at times. You can see his sweater in the photo, but it's not really that warm, and the guy at Petco said the "Winter Line" won't be in for another couple of weeks. What do most of you do who live in cold climates? He does seem to like the snow, and I just got him a week ago. |

| I put sweaters on them, and if it's really cold I'll put a parka over that. Toby doesn't like snow at all, in fact we have to shovel out a spot for him to do his business in! Lola has only had 1 snow experience so far, and she hated it...kept trying to tiptoe on it. I do try to get them back inside as fast as I can, and dry them off with a towel. Usually they're ready to wrap in a small blanket til they warm up. Tried pee pads...Toby chewed them up

| When its cold Callie wears a sweater or a warm shirt but she has a doggy door and when its really cold she will just go out go potty and run back in when we went to WV I would put her jacket on her everytime she went to go out but even then she learned to go potty fast.

| We have a sweater for Buddy. My concern is wether or not it is too hot for him while he is inside. Not trying to threadjack, but what does everone think about leaving the warm clothes on? |

It doesn't really get as cold here, but generally the colder it gets the more I layer. For cold days, its a thin knit sweater under a coat. For really cold day back when I lived in Jersey I did 3 layers - thin sweater, sweatshirt, coat. | |

| We lived in Maine for the first 6 years of Edie's life. She would go outside to pee pee in the winter, as I was never able to train her to use wee wee pads consistently. I always put a coat on her when it was below 20 degrees F, even if she was only going outside for one minute. Above 20 F, and she was able to go outside for a short time (just a couple of minutes) without a coat. Now that we are in Arizona, she does not wear a coat at all. |

| Daisy wears a fleece that wraps around and covers her belly if we go out, but she usually just uses pee pads. I bough a snowsuit and boots for her to use when it snows. I will let you know how that goes when she tries it out.

| wow...9 degrees is very cold! Joey doesn't like sweaters, but Tank does, so Tank gets his sweater when it's cold (50 degrees or so and colder, but 9 makes that sound warm!), but Joey goes without because he would just take it off himself anyways (he's a little Houdini). They make very short potty trips when it's cold, and they let me know when they're finished by going back to the door.

| When it's super, duper cold out, I put a velour tracksuit on Missy, with her winter jacket over top, and her Epic dog shoes. I carry her, and I don't make her walk in the snow. She uses pee pads indoors all the time anyways.

| Penny has lots of t-shirts, sweaters, and cold weather coats. We also just bought her gym shoes for when it gets really bad out. So usually I will layer her in a thin t-shirt or light sweater and put her coat on top of that to keep the insulation in when we let her out, and when she comes back in I will take the coat off but leave her under layer on for a while after that. |

| When it's chilly out, Abby wears a sweater. When it's cold out she wears a coat. When it's REALLY cold out, she wears a sweater and a coat. I bought her a pair of boots recently as her little pads get so cold in the winter. We'll have to see how that goes.

| Wow, I can't believe we are talking FARENHEIT here with the 9 degrees and 17 degrees? yikes! In my area (the northeast) it was 65f yesterday. I am a new dog owner, so I don't know from parkas and boots. But I just wanted to chime in and say I knitted a nice warm sweater for my Yorkie and it's been doing the trick sofar (we have been down to about 39f some days). I used a chunky wool called Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride. Size 11 needles and I knitted it up in a few hours. I am going to try and make a matching one for the new puppy this weekend. I don't know how to post pics on a thread but if I could I would. |

| Sophie has a fleece winter coat and sweaters. She is goes potty pretty quickly outside though. We shovel the patio but she still likes to jump around in the snow in the yard
