| Why would we kill you? Its your opinion and you are intitled to it?!? Yes both my boys bark when they hear a noise outside, but I blame that on them wanting to know what is going on outside there place. I don't think its because they are just barking... just a thought, I belive that all dogs are protective of their teritory, so they bark when they hear a noise. Cause my sisters dogs bark at every little noise they hear outside and they are labs. Just a thought. ![]() Quote:

| I have 6 yorkies now, and, yes, sometimes it sounds like a kennel at my house. They bark at unfamiliar noises and things. They thought that big ole watermellon was gonna get them this summer! And, Deuce, hates that "Ex-tense" commercial; you know the one; (that's for men) They have this whistling part on the end of the commercial that drives him crazy! The silly thing will actually howls. And when Mom or Dad come home; well its not quiet for a good 15 mins. They are jumping with joy, even is you just went to the mailbox! You won't be sorry if you get your yorkie baby; but, beware.....I think the majority of the people on YT have more than 1; they are terribly addictive.

I've had lots of different dogs over the years, and I've never had one like Joey, he is different, but that's exactly why he's so perfect for me now. I also baby-sit my one son's Maltese and one son's Shih Tzu, neither one of them barks at things like Joey. His base level for barking is extremely high, and it was a challenge to teach him to learn that he must stop barking, I have taught him to stop after a few barks, but I believe that you should be "prepared" to face this. So it's not that I'm against barking, but Joey would continue on and on, extinction didn't work with him. If you get a non-barker, that's great, but it's good to understand the worst of it.

| I didn't mean litterly, I guess I should have said it a different way. That is great that your Joey alerts ya... I was just trying to state that I think all dogs big or small tend to be protective of their property. But then again not all dogs tend to bark too, So I guess every dog large or small is different, just like people are and I for one think that is great!! Life would be dull and boring if we were all alike the same with our furry babies!! Huggles.. ![]() Angie Quote:

| I have 4 yorkies and none of them bark just to be barking... its either because someone is at the door or they heard something outside or because another one stole their bullystick/chew treat. In my opinion they are the best breed to have (if you have the time for them) They need lots of love and attention. I dont think I could imagine my life without a yorkie now! They really all are different in personality...just like people.

| I personally know 5 adult yorkies (owned by friends of mine) and of course, my adult is Diva. NONE of the dogs that I know are yappy. Diva rarely ever barks, unless there is a knock at the door or the evil cat gets in trouble for something and Diva has to back me up by barking like crazy at her!Honestly, the only thing I could say bad about a yorkie is that they may cause diabetes because they are so freakin sweet!!! (my 18 year old daughter told me that and I loved it!) Don't let anyone talk you out of getting what you want. |

| Well, it is good to know that they can be trained not to bark so much. When my friend said that to me, all I could think about was that dog my neighbor's daughter had when she lived next door for a couple of months. I could not stand that dog (sorry). I don't know what kind of dog it was. A mixture of some sort. But it was small (like a chihuahua mix) and when she would see me she would go nuts. Like she was going to bite my heels. She wouldn't get too close but it was insane. I would hear her barking long after I had opened my door, went inside and closed it behind me. I don't want a dog like that. |

| I know that every dog is different but both my girls rarely bark! I had chihuahua's growing up and was pleasantly suprised at how much less my yorkie girls bark. They bark when they hear a suspicious noise at night at thats usually about it and if we tell them enough they stop immediatly dont get discouraged! Getting my first yorkie Bailey was the best thing I ever did!

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Just another perspective, not only is my yorkie not a yapper I can count the times in the last year and a half on my hands that I have heard her bark. She is such a delightful temperment that she attends church service with me on a regular basis. -pam |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk!! I have had 3 yorkies and love the breed. My first 2 were "lover dovers" Both were little "girlie girls". My 2nd one was so precious and tiny. She was the light of my life. The one I have now, Abby, is so very different from the other 2. She is so independent. Not so much a "lover dover" ( only when she really wants to be). Abby is such a tompup. She likes to play rough sometimes. She will bark when she hears someone at the door. I was lucky, none of them barked a lot. If you decide to get one, I wish you luck in your search. Please just make sure you get it from a reputable breeder. Check here on this site. There are good breeders here.
