| Bad Breeder Help I bought my latest little furbaby from a bad breeder outside of Memphis. I have by chance run into 4 other people that had the same issues with their puppies almost dying that bought from her recently. When called she says the ride home stresses them, or that they were not taken care of properly etc. I have reported her to the local police dept (who says they have had numerous complaints but cant do anything to her, because she is not breaking laws) they have no animal control in her town, its to small. I have also reported her to aspca and called a local rescue group to see if they could give me advice. anyone else have any ideas? It breaks my heart to think of any more puppies suffering. I spent $1500 on vet bills keeping pix alive. She is wonderfully healthy now, but it took over a month to get her that way. thanks for any ideas. |

| I am not sure if the breeder is in Tennesee or not but here are the laws for Tennesee but you can change it to say look if the breeder is in Arkansas. You don't state was exactly is wrong with your puppy but the ride home will not kill a dog. Tennessee Consolidated Dog Laws Did you get a contract? How did she keep her dogs? Do follow the humane treatment for the state? You also might want to look into small claims court... You have taken some great first steps..

| she came from a breeder in Selmer, Tn. She had coccidia, round worms, yeast infections in ears, internal bleeding, low iron levels, fleas and hypoglycemia. spent a week living with my vet, he took her home with him and kept her for a week and nursed her round the clock with antibiotics, she weighed 15 oz and lost all her hair. I spent the next month giving her meds and syringe feeding her every 3 hours. She and I lived on the couch together for that first month. shes great now, weighs 2.14lbs and has finally grown hair. I'm still so paranoid that I still give her puppy nutracal 3 times a day, keep pedilyte stashed away and the vets # in my purse. Breeders excuse( I had my sister call her as I was to upset thinking my baby was going to die at any moment) was I didnt know how to take care of her ( I already have a 9 yr old yorkie raised from 12 wks), stressed her on the way home or by giving her a bath, my vet was in it for the money etc. I could go on and on. She has told the other buyers the same thing when they have called about their sick puppies. At one point she was so sick the vet thought we might have to put her down. Her contract says she 's not liable for coccidia only defects and she wont pay any vet bills. You can tell by talking to her, she's got game, she knows what she's doing, I have a letter from my vet stating that my baby was sick when I purchased her. I dont care about getting my money back anymore or vet bills, I just want her to be stopped. |

| The only way this breeder will be stopped is if she is held accountable for her puppies and will have to pay the vet bills and or you. I realize you don't want the money but if you want to stop her...if all of you took her to court and she lost she might be shut down. Also please read the laws as they pertain to Tennesee and if you went to her house and the condition the dogs were kept in was inhumane then the police have to do something...its the law. You can make a difference if you are willing to do your homework and go after this breeder. Tennessee Small Claims - Lawyers.com

| There are too many bad breeders out there interested only in money! They do need to be stopped. If you readily found 4 others with the same experience of getting sick puppies that she would not stand behind, you can believe that is only the tip of the ice berg! How any breeder ould be so callous to blame a car ride or new owner for their puppies being sick is beyond me. You need to get the word out -- that is the only way to stop people from buying from her right now. Are the pups AKC? If so, report all of your experience and try to get the 4 others to do so as well, to AKC. They have an investigative unit and they will respond to your complaints. Depending on how busy, they might come out and inspect her operation. If they find sick puppies and substantiate problems, they may ban her from AKC so that she cannot register any more litters. I would post her name along with actual facts of your experience. Word it carefully so that you are not giving opinions on her, just the absolute facts. Try to get the other 4 to post their experience as well. There are also several sites where people can post bad sales experiences of any kind -- like ripoffreport.com. I would send a detailed, factual report to your local dog fancier's club, any local YorkshireTerrier Clubs, etc. It may not shut her down, but at least those doing some research will be able to have warning about her. Bless you for hanging in there with your little one and getting her healthy and well-cared for. Sorry you had to go through such an experience right off the bat. Look forward to hearing more about Pix!
