| How hard is... It to groom your own yorkie? I have been thinking of getting a pair of clippers and doing it myself. Peanut is good with me, I will ususally trim his bum with clippers and he will just sit there so I know I will be able to do it. But as far as the legs and stuff... Is it pretty easy? I always told DH if I had a pair of clippers I would do it myself...but you always think something is easy until you do it lol I do need to buy some clippers bc I was using DH'S clippers last time lol I felt bad that he uses that for his face and I used it on p's bum lol shhhh anyways let me know..

| You'll have the most problem with the front of the throat, face and ears. Getting that down is an art. My babies still like to fight me about it. I think its the vibration that irrates them. Go slow with the face (I've mad mistakes even going slow). I keep my babies cut in a puppy cut just because its easier for them here. During the winter they where jackets, but they will still get snow balls in their leg hair if they are kept cut short. I thought that $35 dollars for a groomer to cut my dog every 2-3 months was a waste of money. So I do a friends dog as well as both of mine. Good luck!

| I am not too worried on the body The face I am.. I think until he gets use to me doing it and me getting use to it, I will just trim his face up with some scissors.. Trim his beard and the little hair in front of the eyes ( I have done that before) What about in the ears?? I know the groomer pulls the hairs out inside them..I dont want to do that lol He would never let me either.. I have done it to dogs at the vet, but never my own. I think I will take him in to do his anals anyways and cut his nails ( he wont let me) so I will have her clean out his ears so I dont have to worry about it.

| Mine won't let me pull the hair out of their ears. I just make sure that I keep them really clean and the hair trimmed down. Sounds to me like you have a good plan there.

YT 2000 Club Member | You should check out the grooming section on here, their are a lot of threads on clippers, brushes, and other grooming supplies! Yorkie Grooming Talk - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community I groom all 3 of my Yorkies myself. I have read too many stories on here where a groomer ruins the Yorkie's hair. A lot of times a groomer will claim that there was too many matted areas so they HAD to clip them short. Mine get brushed/ combed daily so I know they are not matted, The one and only time I took one of mine to the groomers, I only had Jeter at the time and I was lucky they did a good job. But I figured that I could save money if I started to do myself. I paid almost $70 for them to trim up Jeter and he is only 2 1/2 pounds It was not like he was a giant fuzzy St Barnard!

I have this whole lie going on lol with DH. DH loves to get pnut shaved down and I dont like it. I am over it and he is more my dog than dh's but thats selfish to say bc he is our dog, but anyways I just want pnuts hair to be a little longer..and its always a fight with dh, DH doesnt like the hair in his eyes or the hair around his bum and weewee and I agree thats why you give them a sanitary cut.. it doesnt mean you shave the whole dog!! ergh So I told dh that pnuts groomer is not there and I dont know when she will be back, she had a family emergency!! I said I was going to take him in to get a sanitary cut and his nails and anals done today and I was going to buy some clippers lol I just texted him so we will see what he thinks lol

WOW 70 for a 2lber geesh!!! That is crazy Peanuts groomer is really good, she only does what I tell her to do and she is really good at it. She charges me 35 for a bath, shave, anal, nail trim, teeth brushed. I tip her 10 so its 45 everytime... I honeslty just dont want to pay the 45 , DH isnt working as much as he use to ( he is in construction) so I think we should save that 45 every 3 months and put it on something else when I can probably trim up Peanut myself. Peanuts hair is about 1/2 inch long right now usually I have it shaved to like 1/4 inch! So short!! Now that it is a little longer I have been brushing him like every other day.. I love it its soo shiny and healthy looking and its silver! When it is shaved so short its black! We have our little bonding time where he sits on me and I brush him!! He is really good too he will sit there, he doesnt like it, but he puts up with it very well!

| I wish I could do it myself. I tried and my little dog looked a mess, I didn't want to take him in public. I ended up taking him to the groomer to fix what I messed up. I think it will take practice, but I think it's possible. I wish I could take a class or something.

| It'll take some practice and trail & error, but anyone can do it! Mocha is pretty good and stands still the entire time (except for when he gets his nails clipped). They just have to get used to the routine. I always cut off less than I want/need to, and fix it up from there. You might not be ecstatic with the first few tries, but trust me, you'll get better with practice
