Well not exactly the term parti-color is used in the AKC "Complete Dog Book" as an official description of a dog, meaning varigated in patches of 2 or more colors, the word "teacup' is not.

LOL... YES, you don't see AKC papers stating the dog is a Bl/ Tan teacup , Blk and Tan teapot ....etc

I thought I read somewhere that white coloring in dogs is an "incomplete dominant" trait affected by genetic "moderators". But, it appears people who breed parti to traditional get dogs that do not show any white - so is there a definitive: recessive or incomplete dominant?

I think what is not being explained here, for those who are not knowledgable about the tri colored yorkies, is that the Biewers are actually partis, bc parti is a color not a breed.

So any tri colored yorkie is a parti colored yorkie, but only those that are from the Biewer line are Biewers.

Is there any Biewer club asserting that the Biewers are a different breed?

We have been having a discussion if the Parti's and the Biewers are the same dog and it doesn't make sense to me that you would throw in a description of a dog rather than genetic information. Descriptions to me are marketing terms rather than genetic information.

What gene do you believe is in the Parti's to cause the color variation? Why do you believe this happened?

Parti is a tri colored dog, I think the Parti name came with the AKC registration of the tri colored yorkies and it stuck ,Where Mr Biewer came up with his own name. Still the same dog, just named different in the US and Germany.
Darling and FruFRu(Biewers) were Grandkids of Streamglen Richard(Richard was a grandson of Streamglen Shaun)
Nikko's Orange Blossom was a granddaughter of Streamglen Shaun.

Yes. there is one that says they are not purebred, but they do not state what they are mixed with.

While parti is a description of color, it implies that there is some different genetics causing the color variation. That's why I asked the breeders if they know if the gene or genes are recessive or incomplete dominant.

There is one club BTCA who has renamed their dogs to Biewer Terriers and they believe they are made up of 3 different breeds.

The other two clubs BAPPC and BBCA believe they are Yorkies. In my opinion these (Biewer Terriers) are different dogs now just because people have a rush to get into AKC doesn't mean it is right. I am against the rush into AKC.

In order to introduce a new breed into AKC (via FSS) it has to be a new breed based on a mix of 3 breeds...Up until maybe a year ago the BTCA said they were Yorkies...

Well Mr Biewer actualy started a separate breed club. The partis are registered as yorkies with the parti color.

So although, they may have been started from the same kennel, only those that are descendents from the original Biewer pair can be called Biewers.
