| An Offer you couldn't refuse ;) So today i got bored and with a friend of mine's persistance i decided to name Sadie a full length registry type name. As most of you know i'm not a big fan of registries because i don't show or breed so they just aren't a big concern for me, however, i can register Sadie with APRI, at first i though why bother, but now i might just simply for the heck of it. anyways i decided that she needed a long and proper registry name for the fun of having one so i found this and love it: her shortened name: Sadie Grace (i don't use grace when calling her) her registered name: Rhiannon Mercedes Graciella DeFelice Rhiannon: welsh for great queen Mercedes: spanish for merciful Graciella: spanish for grace DeFelice: my Italian last name pronounced in proper Italian as dee fuh lee ch-ay as in CH aye. and it means either happy or lucky My offer to you is to help you to find the perfect registry style name for your fur baby. i will research the meanings, origins, and put them together to give you a powerful name with deep meaning and perfect sounding. let me know if you are interested and i will start on those tomorrow. you can tell me the meaning(s) you are most interested in, or the languages you would prefer and i will try to find something you would like for you baby. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think you have the wrong impression about registries, they are not used for prestige, they aren't used for any type of status, a dog registered with one registry over another is no better than any other dog. However, the registries do say very much about the breeders. Honestly, why in the world would you want to give APRI one red cent when you know that they were founded by commercial breeders? It's like you want to show you undying support to the millers. Breeders use legitimate registries to search pedigrees, and pet owners register their dogs with legitimate registries, to show support for the work they are doing, including ridding themselves of puppy mill breeders. I think it's fine and fun that you want to give Sadie a formal name, but no need to register her and give them any money. Just make birth announcements and send to your friends or something like that. Please don't support APRI breeders.

YT is a place for learning and sharing, but sometimes we newbies get slammed or lectured instead of instruction. It makes us not want to ask or share. I think the OP was excited about her baby's new formal name, and now she is getting her bubble burst.

This is taken from their website: What is America's Pet Registry? America's Pet Registry is the nation's only dog and cat pet registry service dedicated to the pet owner and to the preservation of the professional pet industry; America's Pet Registry is the nation's only pet registry service chartered and supported by the pet industry itself; America's Pet Registry is the nation's only pet registry that dedicates all funds to promote pet ownership and the pet industry; America's Pet Registry, Inc. was begun as insurance for the pet industry and for the world of pet lovers. The professional pet industry is dependant on a registration service for the purebred animals it raises. Proposals are constantly introduced before the major registry services that would restrict the pet industry. Therefore, it is imperative that the pet industry have a registry service available -- a service that represents the basic interests of pet owners and the pet industry, and one that offers economical and friendly services to all. The APRI (America's Pet Registry Inc.) registers 'those that do not have documented pedigrees.' It is important for people to become educated about puppy mills and backyard breeders in order for us to stop them

I do understand that the OP is very excited about her puppy, and as time goes on, she will love her more and more, but I hope this love also grows for not just her dog, but for the Yorkie breed in general, and eventually all dogs. When we start loving all dogs like we do our own dogs, we will do everything in our power to get rid of puppy mills, and we will strongly encourage other people not to support mill breeders or mill registries, even though we take the risk of offending someone. I never ever want to imply that a person should feel that there dog is "less" because he's not registered with the AKC, and if someone wants bragging rights they should find a dog through a rescue and you will have my utmost respect. If you don't wish to go to a rescue, I hope you can at least see the conditions in which your puppy's parents are being raised, and only support those breeders and registries that you know are doing right by the breed. There is a huge difference in registries, but if too much is said; people think you are talking about their dogs personally, and not the breeders.

| I wouldn't bother with APRI. I had papers to register Stormy, but what for? Even for fun, it is pointless. They are such a bad registry I wouldn't even acknowledge them or give them the time of day. I have to agree with Nancy on this one. |

| I like the names you chose for Sadie, but I would rather name my own pup...for sentimental reasons. I'm sure you would do a good job, but it just wouldn't be the same...not to me, anyways. In fact, if I had gotten a girl, Saydee or Gracee would have been her name. I think a pet owner wants, and should, name their own dog....I wouldn't want anyone naming my children. I've put a lot of thought into Rily's AKC name...I'm still working on it and it has been a lot of fun!!!

| Try this for a start Quote:
do you like Isabella? that's the long name for Bella (beautiful) usually, there's also Arabella, and several others. most are Italian, (my dh is half Italian it's my fav. name language besides Spanish) Mia is a form of Maria and it means sea of bitterness in scandinavian Anakintia?? i've heard that one before. Anakin is warrier, american made you could start by looking up similar meanings? warrier in other languages like: Search Baby Names - Search Results | BabyNames.com let me know if you still need help finding something or if you like Isabella i can work around that and find more meaning to add to the beautiful part.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I really don't mean this to be snarky, but to me - if a person supports the APRI, they may as well put a bumper sticker on their car that says I SUPPORT PUPPY MILLS. Ya know? But, you have to do what you feel is right - and if the APRI feels right for you, then no one will be able to persuade you otherwise. But at least folks here have taken the time to be informative. "When you know better, you do better"
