I would have no need to breed any of the offspring. I already have one of the best lines for Samoyeds right now. I just need and want a line that is as great as hers and a male that I want to breed for the better of the breed that he too has a great line so I can breed an even better line. Isn't that the point??? Breeders breeding to improve the breed instead of breeding just for money?

Ah! But, you aren't a breeder/exhibitor. See I don't breed to sell puppies and fulfill the pet market.....I breed for myself, for my next Champion and I only breed Champions......

This is not what the thread is about. She is offering to help those that want to find a nice name for their dog. Doesn't matter where they are registered. She is not asking about registries. Just making an offer.

I feel that we all need to get off her back about where she purchased her puppy. I personally am tired of reading about it everytime I read one of her threads. This is a good way to chase a member off the forum and that is not nice. I think you owe her an apology. I honest to God think that a lot of them members want her to leave and that is why this subject is brought up so often to her.

I am not going to stop reading Rachels threads because of old hashed threads come up again and again. But there is no way for someone to ignore the other posts. They might have something to do with what Rachel was offereing.

There are state laws and national laws. But people elect people who pass the bills and make them law. You are really reaching at things to argue with me about. WOW. I came to this post and kept thinking I MUST be reading it wrong. I'm not sure what world you're living in, but maybe you need to learn about respect, not to mention common courtesy. Nancy is a wealth of knowledge, and I thought that's what this forum was supposed to be about. I cannot imagine who gave you the idea that you can tell a respected, compassionate member that she owes someone an apology.

I realize I haven't been on here very long, but I have to say it makes me embarrassed to be considered one of the "newbies" with the way some of them are acting on here. I for one think the advice to stuff the ears and LISTEN is a great suggestion.

One more suggestion...I keep reading how this is stressing certain people out. I have a simple solution...it's called log off.

Nancy, Debra, Jodi, and all the others, PLEASE keep posting about this. I have learned so much since being on here and hope to continue. Maybe others would be happier in a social forum as opposed to a learning one.

She is the same newbie who encourages a certain breeder to breed tinies because she got one from her so I can see why she wouldnt be concerned where Rachel got her puppy and the registry

Thank you for taking the words right out of my mouth. It upsets me when people ask for advice and then when the get it tell them that they are being "mean to me" GROW UP!! When a person that raises champions gives you advice why would you not listen!! But you will listen to a girl that knows nothing???!! I just fear that the new people just may listen to this hog wash. I know she would not like my Ivy because she may not look like the "perfect yorkie" but my Ivy just may be a great grandmother to her puppy. Why? because Ivy was from a puppymill and god knows how many puppies she had to have so they could make a buck!

There are laws in the works that could use our support along these lines. The Illinois Chloe Bill is one of those. It limits breeders to 20 unspayed/unneutered animals. That is a doable number to realistically provide nurturing. Any more than that, I do not see how they could provide any quality time with their dogs.

Among other things, it requires that all dogs being used in breeding be allowed out of their cage for daily exercise. It requires breeders to get a license from the USDA if they raise more than 50 dogs in a 12-month period and sell directly to the public and sets forth reasonable standards of care for commercial breeders. Enforcing those reasonable standards of care could go a long way to improving the lot of puppymill dogs. Enforcement would be crucial to make it worthwhile though.

I send out periodic emails in support of these intiatives. I basically say the same thing each time, but I figure one in a thousand emails ever really get read by the pol I am sending them to. So, I just keep on sending them.

i agree with you that 20 dogs is a good number to limit the breeders to keeping. my only concern was not that the number should be limited but that having the animals in your home doesn't always make practical sense. think of having even just two st. Bernard dogs and their litter of puppies inside the house, it's just not practical when they can be outdoor dogs anyways, so enforcing a nation wide law about keeping dogs in the breeders house makes no sense, and you can't separate the toy breeders from the large breed dog breeder either because that wouldn't be fair to force half the breeders to keep the dogs in the home and half of them not to

that's all i'm sayin, i support home breeders, but there really can't be a law that forces them to keep the dogs in the house

very well said, that was the point i was trying to make with the law on keeping them in the home as well, realistically you cannot pass a law like that because it would be unreasonable for larger breed dogs to be in the house and you cannot split it into toy breeds in home and large breeds in kennels...just doesn't make sense to do so.

limiting the dogs could be done at a reasonable number, i think 10 or so is a good number depending upon if you have staff to help with them or if you raise them yourselves, it's all situational really.

As the OP who was a little taken aback by the sudden change of subject in my thread, i have to say that both Nancy and Ladymom (Mary??) have earned my respect and though they both can come on a little strong at times, their hearts are in the right place and they mean well, they care so much for the puppies and dogs in those terrible homes that they sometimes let all that emotion go into their posts and don't realize how it might come across. i don't think either of them are mean people, they are just VERY passionate about this topic and are doing everything they can to push the matter to the foreground. Just wanted you to know that i do feel you can be a little brash, but at the same time, i understand where you are coming from and respect your honest opinions. in a previous post you will read that yesterday i was PMSing something awful and i just let you all have it and lost my cool and got defensive. there are things we don't agree 100% about, but for the most part i do agree with you and am learning from you both.
