| Sad little faces when I leave for work Okay, I started a new job about 2 1/2 mos ago and it's really the first job I've had in a couple of years and the first one since Hot Rod and Maggie May have come into our lives. Each morning I feel so bad leaving them as Hot Rod keeps watching me get ready. Maggie runs around like a little nut. The last week or so, Hot Rod really hates it when I get ready, he's even run out into the laundry room (mud room) when I try to leave. Well, this morning, neither one of them were anywhere to be seen when I got ready to walk out. I went looking for them! lol. They were both snuggled on the window seat in the guest bedroom. I felt so much like a bad mommy having to leave them. They have obviously gotten to understand that I'm leaving (sniff, sniff) and have just resolved themselves. I wish I could be home with them but that doesn't pay the bills, sigh. Does anyone else feel guilty leaving them in the mornings? I just needed to vent a little, thanks for reading.

| lt's really so sad how they let you know they are unhappy and will be missing you. lt's better to have two so they can keep each other company. l have only one. l know when you get home they show you how happy they are to see you. lt makes me laugh when l open the dog and Rockie's tail and his bark meets me.

| Awww, I totally know how you feel...I feel soo bad leaving them all alone at home too. I don't even say bye to them bc that means I'm leaving & I want them to think I'm coming back real soon. They probably curl up & go to sleep (I'm hoping). They do stand by the door leading out to the garage (behind the x-pen) & just look at me...I can't even look them in the eye! Lol

| My two are sad when I go to work too. They will usually lay on the couch acting like they are asleep when I am getting ready, but I can see them watching me..it is so cute. When I get home in the evening it is hilarious how excited they get. They both jump like kangaroos, so i just sit down in the floor at let them give me welcome home kisses until the settle down. It makes you feel so good that they are that glad you are home. I do think it helps to have at least 2 so they can keep each other company.

| IDK, but with my puppy he does not seem to mind, we do crate him while my hubby and I are at work, I also just started a new job after being unemployed for a little over a year. We did this as a trial but we knew he would be able to hold it so we went ahead and crated him, the first day I put a pee pad in there with him but he tore that up quick, when I got home I took him out and he took the longest pee I ever saw him take, it reminded me of that Movie "A League of their own" with Tom Hanks. LoL Lestat has ever minded spending lots of time in his crate. the only difference in behavior since we began doing this is that he gets a little bit more excited when my hubby and I get home, but we don't seem to mind that at all.

| This one hit close to home...I've always worked, since I've had Apple, so she's used to it, but it doesn't make it any easier...And they are so smart!...She knows when I'm just going out the front door to somewhere else besides work, and runs to the door, growling and nipping at my feet, either trying to tell me to stay in, or take her w/me...But when I'm going to work, she just sits back and looks at me w/such a sad face, it breaks my heart ....I always give her a baked biscuit (which she doesn't eat or take, while I'm still in the house, but eats later lol...I'm actually getting all my ducks in a row to try to take early retirement and be a pet sitter, so I can be w/her more often...Not sure I can do this 'till at least next summer, but I'm working w/the small business association, etc...Imagine, a 4 1/2 lb. little creature having that much control over my world!!! I just keep telling myself that she is a blessing in disguise and will change my world for the better (from corporate to private)...I'm glad you've got two, I know that helps...The other thing that helped me is I heard/read that they only live in "the now", so they're not really aware of the time span in between...I'd like to tell you that you will get used to it, but it's been 7 months from me, and I still hate it every morning...The babies are probably doing better than us....But, OHHH, the welcome home is delightful!!! |

| Yes, I totally feel guilty every time I leave! It used to be worse when I only had Bella- she was just sooooo sad when I left- she would sometimes run out into the garage and put her little paws up on my passenger door- looking up at me like "take me with you mommy, don't leave me today!" It's gotten soooo much better since we adopted Baci and they have each other to play with. Also, Bella has been with us for over 4 months now and she now knows my routine and although they are both overjoyed to see me when I come in the door, she doesn't look so sad anymore when I leave. I think as your little ones get used to the routine and when you will return- they will adjust more and more. Also, I think they sometimes feed off of our own anxiety about leaving them. I do feel less guilty now that they have each other, so I think they sense that and feel less anxious about it also. hehehe- Baci sometimes tries to run off with and hide my shoes so I won't be able to leave though

My furkids Donating Member | Yup! sounds like my two!! Sadie will either stand right by me or go lay at the bottom of my bed and put her little head down and just watch me with those tiny brown eyes...just breaks my heart...I usually put animal planet on while i am getting ready...Lillie is a little nutball like your maggie...she is happy all of the time! except when I leave...she grabs ahold of the bottom of my pants and won't let go!
