Thanks for replying...Rily is starting to get matts right at the point where is color/texture is changing. His head is turning white and feels/looks silky (no matts,) but his back is full of fluffy/cottony black fur, however, the silver color coming in seem thinner. From your experience, do you think he will be silky or cottony?

The fluffy cotton is the puppy coat, it may change....The head turning to silver will turn to gold/tan...... What you want to do is watch the part line on his back see if it is getting a shine to it, reflecting light, so to say. Check his feet, if they look like little furry slippers, most likely soft coated cottong. Puppy coat is difficult to determine until about 4-6 months of age.

It depends on the pup, how fast the coat grows, it's lineage, etc.

Thanks again. I've posted the questions before, but no one has responsed. He really doesn't have a part line on his back yet other than where it is matting some where the change is occurring, but it does part on his head. His head is silky and his feet really isn't as fluffy as his back. Here is a couple of pictures taken the same day. Notice the different eye color reflections. What do you think?

HELLO Everyone Please come back to this major ISSUE here:
There is a Male Mut dog in the household (no idea if he is neutered, what type of dog and what size dog) that IS trying to mate with this little baby, whom could be coming into heat

I see only 1 or 2 people that are worried

Please, please get this baby spayed asap, if this male is not neutered or if he is and he is too big, she could get hurt or die

I personally would like for my yorkie to have puppies but not any time soon. Lol.

Lol thank you for the concern, but yeah I know that I have to keep him away, I have 3 other dogs in my house but two of the 3 are female Chihuahua's that live inside with us. And then the third is a large old male that lives in the backyard.

The white dog in the blue box is the male that lives inside with the rest of the girls.

I know you are new so welcome, but I have to be honest with you in that you shouldn't breed. #1 you have no background on your very young female yorkie. You don't even know how much she weighs. You have no clue if she is a carrier of the very common genetic defects that the Yorkie breed are prone to #2 you have a male (mut) who isn't neutered. #3 you haven't done any research on the breed or the act of breeding. You are truly put that female at major risk right now....Just because they "can" have puppies doesn't mean they should, and you should be doing everything you can to protect the well being on that tiny baby you have been given. Her protection is your responsiblity.

You're lil girl is a bit young, but can still come into Season as young as she is. Be vigilant and once she does come into Heat.....keep them seperated, not just in seperate rooms, but in crates. Someone can open the door and they are quick.


In the meantime, make sure you have all the required testing done on your girl before hand. Make sure she meets the standard. Study and read everything you can on genetics, breeding whelping and of course the standard.

She doesn't have any background info on this dog, no clue of her lineage, she doesn't even know her birth date. She could have LS in her genes

im not going to breed her without knowing what to do. thats why i said i wasnt going to breed her any time soon. untop of that i am protecting her. she is with me at all times and not near our male dog.

i have started to research bout yorkies, thats how i found these forums. i am trying to learn everything i can about this breed of dogs as she is my first yorkie.
