In the meantime, make sure you have all the required testing done on your girl before hand. Make sure she meets the standard. Study and read everything you can on genetics, breeding whelping and of course the standard.

thank you. yes i have a few gates and cages for dogs that i am using to keep them apart.

shes had all her shots and requirements done. I am in the process of finding a vet to make sure she doesnt have anything that can harm her as far as when she gets pregnant.

That is wonderful! The problem I see is that you don't know HER lineage, therefore breeding her shouldn't even be a thought, ever. She could have very faulty genes and she could produce very sick pups with genetic defects. Which in your research you will see how prevalent and very heartbreaking some of these genetic defects are.

It isn't only your responsible to protect her, but it is also your responsiblity to be a response and honest breeder ~ if breeding is what you want to do, and a responsible breeder is one that wouldn't breed an "un-known" female or male.

Since you have no background knowledge on this little girl. I would spay her. Having all the required testing done on her will not guarantee you that she is not a carrier of any life threatening genetic diseases. Leave the breeding to those who know what they are doing. Have dogs that have been tested and are known what their lineage is.

What requirements have been done???? No Vet will be able to tell you her background

She just got here and she doesn't realize all it takes yet. I thought I was going to breed my female too which is funny now that I know better...she'll figure it out, I'm sure

Good post. I agree. We all believe our babies are the cutest and would make great litters but that is beside the point. If you don't have the background information on this little girl, then please don't breed especially to another breed. If you are planning on gettting into the breeding program then study, get a good quality bitch and stud, but please don't mix the breeds. Breed to better the breed ~ not to mix it.. there are enough mutts out there begging for homes.
