| I would like to read the other responses. I'm going camping in Oregon for a whole week. We have a camper car so I'm not sure if it is classified as camping haha there are showers... but I can't wait. I was going to pack a towel for sure as extra (on top of daily supplies needed) but I will get some of those doggy wipes. I got a life jacket for the boat and beach!! It really isn't necessary but sure is cute .About the creek water.. my dogs drink water from the creek in the backyard but I can't stop them. Is this bad? Actually I only have one dog but I consider the dogs I dog sit for as part of my family .

| OK, Got everything . I also got FRONTLINE for him yesterday and used it. So hope this will prevent any ticks or feels from getting on him. He will always be on a leash and I will always have my eyes on him. there will be another Yorkie too. In case we do get a tick. What do I do? Take it out? Any instructions on what areas of forest has ticks? Thank You |

We were told by our vet to to get a vaccination if we were outdoors a lot and there was a chance of our dog drinking from standing water or public water. I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head but we did get it b/c we camp so often and go to the lake. You and anyone else who takes their dog camping or to the lake may want to check with their vet.

| I have some relatives who live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan right on Lake Superior and they have a lot of wooded area and dense forest surrounding their home. They have two yorkies and every time they come inside, even after a quick bathroom break, they are checked for ticks. While you are camping, I recommend checking for ticks regularly just to be careful. If you do find a tick, the soap method works well, as does using tweezers. Burning them is a commonly used method but is not recommend because this actually spreads bacteria. (And can be dangerous!) Another thing to keep in mind- Ticks cannot jump like fleas can, so the most common way dogs get ticks on them is if they go through heavy wooded areas or brush up against bushes, or the ground where ticks lie. If you remain in open areas and keep them out of heavy brush areas you are less likely to get ticks! Also be wary of other wild creatures running around. If your yorkie is skunked it is no fun! Hope this helps. Good luck and have fun!
