| Puppy and My Buddy Please read Ex boyfriend wants to give me a yorkie. Right now the pup is 5 weeks old. I'm sure he won't come with papers, which I guess won't bother me. After all he would be a lap warmer. Last year he had a pup from the same mom and dad that I got to see, and it looked to me to be full bred yorkie. As you know Buddy is 16, has cancer, and had a stroke last week. ?'s Would it be wrong to get this puppy with Buddy still being fragile? Do you think Buddy's feelings would be hurt and give up? ***Has anyone dealt with a dying yorkie but still had a pup?*** I think I feel like I would be betraying Buddy Could you all please give me some feed back on this? I just don't know what to think |

| when my Paddy passed away in my arms, there was no way I would have had time to look after a pup at the same time. Save your time for now do your grieving after and then maybe pick a new friend |

| My personal opinion is that I wouldn't get a new pup. Evidently, Buddy doesn't have long and he doesn't need the stress. He is a dollbaby and I am sorry heis sick. he needs all your love and attention right now and the boyfriend should understand that. |

| That's what I been thinking and that I would be betraying him. Now my only problem is ex said that I have to take him and find a home for him, he can be a jerk sometimes. I guess that is why he is a ex!lol Thank you for your replies!! |

| I am so sorry about Buddy, it is heartbreaking when we know we are going to lose our little companions, hugs to you.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I can see it both ways. It might perk Buddy up. I don't think he would feel betrayed as long as your attention to him does not change to less. It might with having to train a new pup. I don't know. When I brought Niyah home, Apple did not feel betrayed. She is the same dog as before. Granted she is not sick. Also something to remember that a sick animal sometimes don't want to be bothered. My Persian cat had cancer and died last year. He would come up to me to be petted but then when he had enough, he would go off on his own and not be bothered. Especially when pain is involved. The decision is yours.

| My opinion is to wait. Buddy does not need the added stress right now. Keep Buddy close and love him up. There will be time later to get another one. Just my opinion. Also..I'm sorry you are having to watch your darlin go

| My Hamish is older, but not sick, and our pup gives him HELL! I keep waiting for Hamish to snap at him, show him who is "top of the heap", but Fergus was so little I think Hamish just wants to be left alone. They are working it out, finally, but as much as I hate to say it, I think the added strain of a puppy on your baby may be a bit much. Even if he was just "being a puppy" thats a lot of jumping, running, playing, pestering, trying to roughhouse for an older, sick dog. Good luck. Tell the ex thanks but no thanks, and you are under NO obligation to find a new home. Tell him he should never have committed to it without talking to you. Kate |

| Since your baby is ill, I would make the time he has left as easy as possible. Having a new family member playing and bouncing around would not provide an atmosphere your sick baby would appreciate. Please wait on getting the puppy. Your ex cannot take advantage of you or control you unless you allow it.

| My experience has been that getting a puppy perked my senior pug up! We didn't think that she was going to make it to Christmas 2008, so we got Missy. Missy breathed life back into Tang (our pug). Missy can even get Tang to play with her sometimes. So, I guess it could work both ways. Only you can decide

| Thanks everyone!!! No Buddy is not in pain. When I found out that he had a stroke, I was going to put him down, but the vet asked me to wait two weeks. I'm so glad I did!!!!!! He is doing VERY well!!! He's playing more, eating, more, and sleeping more, but I guess that is to be expected. |

| Sounds like your ex is trying to do something nice for you, I don't think that Buddy would feel betrayed if you a new puppy to the family. However, if the pup seems to irritate buddy then do you have the possiblity of seperating them. Why not tell your ex that if he wants you to have the puppy so badly then he will have to care for it until you are ready for a new one
