| I wish you well with your new puppy if your mind is made up but I would just like to add one more thing that I don't think was mentioned. The vet check up is important but can only check out the very obvious. Most inherited diseases do not show up until 2 yrs old or later. I don't think people are trying to do anything but help you but you are going through that poor little yorkie in the window feeling and I understand but you only keep people in business by buying from them. I left a Japanese Chin breeder a while back and loved the dog but just could not do it once I realized what he was running and what I was setting myself up for later on in it's life. I don't know if I would have had that strength at your young age to walk away but then again, I would not have had all this wonderful advise. Hugs, Joan

| Thanks to those who have given advice to me that i have actually asked for!! About the puppy mill thing in Missouri, i have found that yes this state has more than any other state, but you will be happy to know that the governement of this state is doing more to help that problem be resolved. Why not write to your state legislators that you want this problem to stop and you want stronger and more harsh laws on breeders so this won't happen. I have emailed my breeder several times to help him out in his process of registration and licensing in the state of MO, i have sent him an email with the Blue Ribbon Kennel Program link so that he can apply to become one of these if he'd like. This breeder as i've said over 20 times now, is NOT a puppy mill, he is not raising hundreds of dogs and selling them for ridiculous prices and then turning his back on the owners when they need help. He is an honest person, he helps the owners learn to raise their pups, and he loves and takes care of his babies just the same as any other person on here. He does this because he likes being around the puppies and he likes to see people happy. His kennels are clean and sanitary and he takes very good care of each and every mother, father, and puppy that he raises. His wife Linda also helps care for the puppies and they give them baths and trim their nails and feed them well and play play play with them everyday. A puppy miller wouldn't play with his puppies and let them chase him around the yard calling them by the names he's picked out and bringing them in the house for a bath and to cuddle with. This person could never harm a hair on a puppies head and doesn't let his puppies go until HE personally feels they are ready. He is knowledgeable and educated and though he may let puppies go earlier than most of you accept, he still looks out for what He personally feels is best for the pup. So enough with the comments that I am getting my puppy from a puppy mill, i've had it with your rude and hateful remarks. IF you aren't here to be kind and help me to learn to care for my puppy then keep your opinions to yourselves. I don't want one more of this nonsense about puppy mills or how sick or disgusted you are. I'm a very kindhearted, loving, sweet, and happy person, i've never in my life had so much trouble from strangers. I make friends everywhere I go and am one of the nicest people you will ever meet. I only wanted to come on here to have good advice and support and encouragement as my little one grows up with me, but instead i've found a lot more of angry, hurtful, and rude people who can't keep their nose in their own business. I know i've asked for advice about the age of bringing home a puppy before, but i'm not asking for that advice anymore...and that's all it was, was advice, i didn't need all the rudeness and disrespect with those comments. I'm done with this conversation, if you want to help me raise her and give me knowledge please do, if you want to talk about her age or where she came from, start your own thread somewhere else, it's not welcome here anymore.. Thank you all and have a nice day!! |

| I haven't read all the posts, but let me share my experience after getting Chip at 7 weeks. All my life, we've gotten puppies at 8 weeks old... but these were BIG dogs (Sharpei and Golden Retrievers). I honestly didn't realize the dangers of getting a yorkie that young and thought 8 weeks was normal. We found a "breeder" and they told us he was 8 weeks and he also was a "vet assistant". They had a family owned kennel in Pennsylvania. I did the math later and Chip was actually only 7 weeks. On the hour long drive home, Chip threw up. We figured he was just nervous and scared so didn't think much of it. We get him home and tried to give him some food that the "breeder" gave us and water. He drank the water but didn't seem interested in the food. Once again, just figured he was stressed and his tummy was upset, so we just left the food out. He tried to pick it up a few times, but it would just fall out of his mouth. Flash forward to the next morning. He still hadn't eaten and I had to go to work. Hubby was home with him. I get a call mid day that Chip threw up 5 more times and still hasn't eaten one bite and Adam was rushing him to the vet, which he was going to do later in the day anyways for a routine wellness puppy check up. The vet immediately said "he's got parvo, ______, _______, or ______ and it will cost $500 for tests". Adam left and was going to take Chip back because he was obviously fatally ill (according to the vet) and we didn't have that kind of money. Adam said on the way back to the "breeders" Chip was laying on the passenger seat with his mouth wide open, tongue sticking out, and was shaking all over. The "breeder" gave him a shot, antibiotics, and wet food and Chip perked up instantly, but we almost lost him. He was practically dead when he got there. He was too young to eat dry food and could only eat wet food because I honestly think he may have even been younger than 7 weeks. Problem #2. From 8-12 weeks, the puppies learn socialization from the mother. Chip never got that training and is semi aggressive. He has never liked strangers, has always not trusted anyone other than family (or people he knows well), and has snapped at other dogs. We've trained a lot of that out of him and also helped when we got another yorkie who is overly friendly with everyone, but he still has tendencies. He is also VERY attached to my husband and I because we had him so young and because we were the first people he ever could trust. He freaks out if something is unusual and one of us is gone. I know that is a horror story, but I just want to tell you what happened with us. I have heard of other people getting their yorkies really young and not having any problems, and I hope that is the case with you too. Our situation didn't work out so well, but I wouldn't trade Chip for anything in the world. Just be prepared with Nutri Cal and don't leave her for too long as small dogs in general tend to get hypoglycemic and especially when they are so young and believe me when I say that it is SCARY. She'll need to be fed probably about 3-5 small meals a day. Once again, I'm just sharing my experience with you.... not trying to scare you or anything, just warning you to be careful and trying to inform you on some dangers involved. I wish you well and if you need anything, you can PM me.

I am beginning to think that you're not going to listen to anyone on YT that is trying to help you. You personally said that you haven't seen the conditions that they are being raised in because he is meeting you somewhere. Then you started another thread about your dad not letting you bring her to his house. Honestly, you need to ask yourself if this is something that you want to share publicly since you're getting mad at all the responses. Many of us here have tried to help guide you, but you are not listening. You are letting the excitement of a puppy get the best of you and you're not researching or doing what is necessary for the puppy. Now many of us have read your posts and been critized for the advice, which is all true, by you. However, you keep defending the breeder that you are getting her from. I believe that you are just happy to be getting a Yorkie at $400 and that's the only thing that you are seeing. If you don't like the comments that are being stated, then don't post about it.

when asking for opinions, i have the right to choose how i use the information given to me, you make it sound like i'm obligated to instantly change all my plans just because someone offers a bad story about their own puppy. well that's not how i work, i will read the advice and i will learn and research as much as possible and then make an intelligent and informed decision that I can live with based on ALL of the information i've been given. YT is not my only source of advice and information, therefore you aren't seeing all the positive information i have that i am also basing this on. thanks again for your stories and for your advice, and thanks for understanding that i can choose whether or not i agree with you.

| Rachel, You may want to check out this link. Admin chose to make it a sticky because of the quality of the information it contains. I believe you will find many here believe these are good guidelines for choosing a yorkie. I don't say that excuses rudeness, but it may give you some background information on the thoughts of others about what a puppy mill is. Honestly, when I look at that site I see red flags. Red flags I've only learned about after I brought Ginger home from a place run by a really nice older gentleman. Ugh, what a mill that turned out to be. I understand that you are emotionally attached to this girl and that you have made up your mind. Honestly, I'm not judging you and I do wish you luck. I just want to help you see why your breeder is being judged so harshly. Hope this helps. P.S. Yes your blingee is adorable.

| Thanks for posting this video clip. I'm still nervous but after the groomer pulled all the hair out so roughly that his ear was raw for several days....I'm going to try to do it myself. I just don't want him to feel pain. |

But you haven't answered all the questions asked of you such as: Do you have 1000 or more dollars to put into the puppy if she gets sick? Just think about the what if she gets sick? You never answered my question either: Have you thought about getting an older Yorkie that is for sure healthy? An older one is just as cute. I will bet if your puppy gets sick, you won't tell us because you don't want anyone to say they told you so. There is a puppy mill in VA that I reported and hope they close them down. Maybe I will check with the SPCA tomorrow about this kennel to see if they will check it out to see if more dogs can be saved. Just in case it is a puppy mill.
