| [QUOTE=FlDebra;2698250]Littlepaws took excellent care of this little girl today. I thank her for trusting me with this baby! She trained me on tube feeding and gave lots of advice. This baby girl is very lively for one having such a rough start. In fact, I'm having a time of it typing and holding her on me at the same time. First tube feeding went really well. I only had to restart a couple of times. Almost time for another one! Haven't got a name just yet -- so far calling her "Little Miss" since we went to Mississippi to get her. My sister (visiting from up north) came with me and held her all the way home. I have to tell you how special this little baby is to me and why I know this was the right thing to do. I have not told many people here but last September I lost my dear husband after a long battle with cancer. That is why I was absent from the forum so long. His birthday was yesterday -- the same day this little puppy was born. In fact, I was at the cemetary "talking to him" as she was being born. I think she is a precious gift and will do everything to give her the best chance possible. I will be happy for any advice, success stories, and especially prayers for my new baby girl! I have only just begun to study up on the cleft palate issue and what our options will be down the road. But I will do whatever she needs. I just have a good feeling about this! [/QUOTSorry to hear about your lose, and now you have someone else that needs a angle to watch over her. We will all keep u both in our prayer, please keep us up to date and pictures update when ever u can and have time. Try and get some help, I have nerve tube feed a puppy , but I did do birds and that was so very hard no sleep, I didn't know day from night, I did it. So please, and see if someone near u can help for a few hours to give u a break.. will keep u in our heart and prayer. And Congrat ! on your furbaby girl. God bless ! Good Luck bark@ulater manina, miley , max |

| Our baby girl is still doing well, holding her own. I am getting much better with the tube feeding now. She did not gain any weight today, but did not lose either -- still at 3.8 oz. She is peeing and pooping well at every feeding. She seems strong, sort of swims around on her blanket. I have a stuffed toy in with her that she likes to burrow under to sleep. Keeping her plenty warm and every 2 hr. feedings. I am trying to hold her a lot too, petting her and hopefully giving her a sense of security. I saw her cleft today -- it scares me a bit. It was supposed to be a pin hole? Looks like the whole roof of her mouth is opened up, right down the middle. That is probably why the vets said nothing in her mouth. Her little nose is pink instead of black. Is that something that goes with the cleft palate? Getting tired and will probably go try to catch a nap. I have an hour before next feeding.

| My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I raised a cleft pallet baby and she will be 3 yrs old in a couple days!!! Her cleft is in her soft pallat. I did not have her corrected. After a ton of research I decided against it. If you ever have any questions....I will be happy to help ![]() Quote:

When I took her to the vet the day you came, he told me her cleft was bigger than I had been told. I was already in shock over what had just happened to her.. I was told by her breeder that the cleft was very small nothing to worry about.. It was when the vet I took her to saw her cleft that he gave me her odds as 1 in 3. He did say however that he has seen much worse and he felt that she truly did have a chance to pull through.. On her feedings, do you think 1/2 cc water 2cc milk and 1cc flush would be better? She needs to gain. Do you plan to take her to the vet tomorrow? Oh, the pigment in her nose will come as she gets older. It will get a molted look and turn all black by the time she is about 8 weeks old. Your doing a great job with her! | |

The size of the cleft did take me by surprise because you had told me it was a pin hole. But it doesn't matter, we will beat those odds! She seems very strong and moves alot. I have already increased to 2 cc of formula at each feeding and will gradually increase to 3 cc a feeding by tomorrow. I think that is what she should be getting IAW the formula for figuring amounts I wrote to you about (25-35 milliliters of formula for every 100 grams ). As she grows I will adjust. That kept my lsat bunch at a nice gaining pace and their little bellies round. I am also going to hold off on the tail docking. Will probably just let her keep it. I have always had mixed feelings about that anyway. Now I have an excuse to let it stay. That is strange about the nose. I do not remember any of my pups going through a pink nose stage. I guess I am not remembering the first few days. I saw on YTCA they are black by the 1 week mark. I also did not remember them being that small. I thought she was smaller than my last litter, but then when I weighed her I was surprised -- she was 3.8 oz! I had 2 that were 2.5 oz and 1 that was 3 oz. So, my memory is definately slanted by whatever I see last! LOL!

I usually do not do things impulsively like this. But I just felt like I had to offer to take her. In the middle of the night, I may think "What am I thinking?" but then I look at her tiny little body moving around and look at my two Yorkies and think that she too can grow to be like them with a little extra care. So, that keeps me going. I am motivated by the success stories here too! I may be checking in if questions come up, whch I am sure they will! --Thanks again,

| Debra, I was going by what her breeder told me and I was very suprised when the vet said something else. I took Lil Miss to save her. I knew if I came here someone would want that baby girl and would try to help her. They were taking her to the vet that morning and it wasn't for a check up. I guess they tried to make light of it and I do feel that was wrong. I tried to be really up front and I feel terrible I didn't know the whole story. |

| Debra, it seems as if this little one was totally meant to be yours. I believe that God gives us these little ones right when we need them most. Sometimes we think they need us when all along it's us that needs them. A year ago this June, I had to put my little dachshund Annabelle to sleep due to numerous back problems. God bless me at that time with my first yorkie, LuLu and I have been ever so blessed. Since then, I have added my little boy, "Big Papi" who weighs all of 3 1/2 pounds. So......consider this little angel a gift from God and your hubby. I will be praying that everything goes well. Blessings to you!
