| update and pic. We had a small crisis today. I put milk into the babies lungs. My husband had taken the car so after clearing her out good I RAN 2 miles with all of my children to the vet...We were there a few hours but home in time for Debra to come and get her. I showed her the tube feeding and all went well.. She is on the way home with the baby now. I am sure there will be better pictures later but these might do for now! |

I have tube fed if ever you need me..not sure on how much to give them now as they grow..I was so worried about not giving enough or giving too much.. I had a breeder tell me as we went and as gracie put on weight.. But I sure will support you.. I am ever so anxious to hear an update from you and I am sure right now your a tad emotional and excited all rolled into one.. praying for you and this baby.. | Thanks for all the Good Wishes! Littlepaws took excellent care of this little girl today. I thank her for trusting me with this baby! She trained me on tube feeding and gave lots of advice. This baby girl is very lively for one having such a rough start. In fact, I'm having a time of it typing and holding her on me at the same time. First tube feeding went really well. I only had to restart a couple of times. Almost time for another one! Haven't got a name just yet -- so far calling her "Little Miss" since we went to Mississippi to get her. My sister (visiting from up north) came with me and held her all the way home. I have to tell you how special this little baby is to me and why I know this was the right thing to do. I have not told many people here but last September I lost my dear husband after a long battle with cancer. That is why I was absent from the forum so long. His birthday was yesterday -- the same day this little puppy was born. In fact, I was at the cemetary "talking to him" as she was being born. I think she is a precious gift and will do everything to give her the best chance possible. I will be happy for any advice, success stories, and especially prayers for my new baby girl! I have only just begun to study up on the cleft palate issue and what our options will be down the road. But I will do whatever she needs. I just have a good feeling about this!

| bottle for cleft palate when she gets a bit bigger, you may want to try a mini Haberman bottle by Medela. They are not cheap but we use them to feed human cleft palate babies without aspirating. You can sometimes get them on ebay and also at breastfeeding supply stores. Babies R Us does not carry them. You can control the flow rate from the nipple and even squirt formula if needed. They are wonderful for bottle fed pups as well. ruth

| Debra, I am so glad all went well on your trip home. Don't worry about having to restart her tube at feeding time. It doesn't hurt her at all. How is she this morning? I know you must be tired from last night! |
