| Toby is settling in Well Toby is making himself right at home over his first week with me. His introduction to one of my cats was to run up and bite him in the bum. My 40 lb cocker/golden mix has been terrified of him, but today when he was jumping at her and barking at her trying to get her to play (he's wanted all of my other pets in the worse way) she finally responded by jumping back at him. I've been waiting for this, but it was really scary she's so much bigger. I kept saying "Easy Molly he's a puppy" and she was good. She'd chase him under the bed then 2 seconds later he'd come charging out at her. She would try to anticipate where he'd come out so I think that she was having fun. Yay. I've been reading a lot on the forums and I think that even though he's doing pretty good with getting outside, I'd like to get him the UGODOG he's so little I'm not really sure he's getting outside every time he needs to go and especially when my mother watches him while I'm at work I don't think he's going out as often as he should. Her dogs love him especially her Chihuahua who is still fairly young himself. All 3 of her dogs love him though...they even got after their own cat when she hissed at him. I was pretty sure that I was going to get North State - Superyard XT Portable Playard and Gate for when I actually start to leave him at the house by himself. Then I found 24H" x 24" 8 Panel GoGo Black Epoxy Exercise Pen w/ Door and I thought it might be better...it's certainly less expensive so I wondered if anyone had any experiences to share about either. He also occasionally makes a strange noise that almost makes me think he's going to be sick. I wondered if it was the backwards sneezing I read about. His first vet check is next week so I'll of course ask then, but I wondered if anyone had any idea. Anyways, he's cute and adorable and I love him and I really appreciate all the help you've all given me even though I've been fairly quiet |

| That's great news!! I used a regular metal exercise pen. I like the appearance of the black metal way more than an ugly plastic one. I don't think there is a difference in the function unless one is bigger than the other. I've never pad trained or the fake grass trained so I can't be of much help there. My dog still goes potty in the house sometimes. It's been 6 months since I've gotten him. Sadly I don't think he'll ever be trained but if I take him out when he needs to go he only has an accident once in a while.

| i was nervous about that strange noise also when i got coral, as she is my first yorkie, but when i checked with the vet they said it was a reverse sneeze. i wouldn't worry, but i would definitely mention it to the vet when you go. good luck and welcome!

| Toby had his first vet check today. I was so relieved. I don't know why but I was so afraid something would be wrong with him. He does have a slight under bite but the vet assured me that it would only be a concern if I had planned to breed him or had wanted to show him. As far as his health goes though, no issue. The vet gave him two booster shots. The first one he took like a big brave boy. The second he went nuts over. He cried, he wiggled he tried to bite the vet assistant. The vet told his assistant to just put him on the floor and let him work it out. Well he cried and cried, tried to bite his back and raced around the room like a little nut. Now he's asleep on my shoulder. He likes to drape himself across the back of my shoulders when I'm at the computer. Worries me a little but when he moves my hands move pretty fast as well. The vet said that's a fairly standard reaction from the small dogs. He weighed 2.5 lbs and he's 3 months old (born April 1st) so I think that means from other things I've read that I can expect him to be around 5 lbs. Oh and I also mentioned the funny noises he makes and the vet mentioned reverse sneezing and seemed unconcerned. Yay |
