| I also got mine from a newspaper ad. I called the lady, went out to her house and met a woman pulling out of the driveway that just purchased a Westie from the seller. The woman said she had been buying puppies for years from this particular seller and was very pleased. I got good vibes from that. The seller and I were in the kitchen talking and I saw three Yorkie puppies running around having a good time... they were a little bit on the bigger side. Then I saw this little tiny ball of dust run from around the corner trying to keep up with the bigger puppies. I asked what that was and I was told that it too was a Yorkie puppy, only smaller. He was of course more expensive... $600. But as soon as I saw him, I fell in love with him and knew immediately I was going to get him. We signed some papers and I paid the seller and a lady that was there helping the seller actually started to cry because the puppy I bought was her favorite. I could tell right away that the little guy was really cared for and I have not had one regret since. The CKC papers never came, but today I could care less. Barry |

I agree with you , however, 100%. If it can be done always the right way all the time, ideally , this ought to be the how puppies are purchased. So many Yorkies live a long life with little health problems, certainly w/o all the fancy testing behind them .

Do you know that today's Yorkies are thirty-six times more likely to inherit a liver shunt shunt than all other breeds combined? There is a very simple bile acids test that can tell a breeder if the dog she plans on breeding has liver disease, but backyard breeders don't even spend the approximately $75 (or less) to have it done. Liver shunts cost thousands of dollars to surgically repair. I would never consider buying a Yorkie puppy from a breeder who didn't bile acid test. | |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I would rather sell out of a local paper. I like to meet the family and for them to meet me. I want to see them interact with my pups and adults. I don't have a waiting list. I have alot of people that contact me wanting pups but they want them now. I try to refer them to other breeders that I know have pups.

| Newspaper Yes, I bought Jack/Bella from one. I had to travel for Jack he was a hoot. So many to choose from. All of the puppies were running around. But I never saw the parents. Well I have learned so much from YT that I would not do that again. But Jack is My Love.. Bella, This was a hoot. when we found her she was local. When we went to see her we saw the mommy/pa. In fact I liked the dad so much I wanted one that would look like him. Just be careful cheryl |
