| What was your reason for getting a Yorkie? Where did you get your Yorkie? What was your reason for getting a Yorkie? We all don't just wake up one day and say hey this is the dog breed I want ... There has to be a reason? Please tell why! Also where did you get your Yorkie from? Breeder, shelter? etc. Thanks all! God bless!

| My sister came to live with me for a little while and she had a 6 month old Yorkie, Lacey. I fell in love with the breed through her. A few years later I had my sweet Annie B. She was a rescued breeder from a puppy mill and the best Yorkie ever! When DH finally decided he wanted his own dog he choose to find a Yorkie because of how great Annie was. We were soooo lucky to find Boo in a local rescue. He was an owner turn in, don't know why, he is an amazing dog! After I had to say good-bye to Annie suddenly last year, we were incredibly blessed to get Gracie Ruth from a YT'er who lives just a few miles from me. And then later we were unbelievably lucky to get Yogi from the same YT'er. I don't know what I've done to be so blessed to have these 4 amazing dogs in my life, but I grateful every day for them.

| I have always wanted a yorkie since I was a kid- because I thought they were cute. But now my boss has one, and she is the best little dog ever. I work at a preschool and Livee just walks freely around the school- like a hall monitor lol. She never barks and is 100 % potty trained and just so sweet. When I finally saved up enough money I asked her where she had gotten Livee and she she gave me the number to a breeder about 2 hours away from me. It was meant to be because she had three girls that would be ready just when I hoped (right at the start of summer) and I was the first one to call since she hadnt started advertising yet so I got pick of the litter

| I believe that my Saydie was sent from Up Above. I was not looking for a dog but badly needed something to hold on to at that time in my life like an Angel she came and changed my whole life. A breeder/friend brought her to me. |

| I wanted a small dog that I could take just about anywhere. I also picked the the yorkie because of the coloring. I got her from a breeder, I would have rather rescued but I have two small children. I plan on getting a male in the future, hopefully it will be a rescue!!

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Our Lhasa Poo suddenly became ill and had to be put down. We were looking to see what was available in our area. This little yorkie came up THREE times, I thought there must be something to it if she was put in front of me three times. So I called and talked to her foster mom then we saw her and adopted her from a no kill animal rescue. Hubby wanted a small dog who could go in the car with us, our daughter wanted a yorkie and her she is!

My furkids Donating Member | I am 52 yrs young and have dogs my entire life. I got divorced 13yrs ago and when I moved out I couldn't take ANY of my animals with me I was heartbroken. I lived with a man that I ended up marrying. We bought a house and I told him I needed to have a dog. He is not as much an animal lover as I am...I finally convinced (told) him that I was going to get a dog. I wanted something small (I always had medium to big dogs) that didn't shed, I have allergies. Yorkies were not my first choice...I finally decided on a yorkie. I bought her from a local breeder. Well!!!!! BOTH of us fell in love with the breed...When Sadie was 2yrs old I told him that she was lonely and needed a playmate ! So.....that's when Lillie came into the picture..He has done a complete turn around...He kisses the girls before he kisses me!! Now he tells me we should have a boy!! for him!!!! I would LOVE to get another but, I we take the girls everywhere with us...including camping...I told him I don't have enough arm or lap room for another dog! I do all the care taking for the girls...feeding, bathing, grooming, walking....if he helped me out more I would probably consider getting another one....maybe someday!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Always loved Yorkies I've always loved Yorkies and small dogs in general. My dad bred pit bulls and it's a great memory I have as a child and wanted to be able to do the same for my kids. My dad always said if you could get the personality of a small dog in a big dogs body you'd be all set. I got both my Yorkie pups from breeders. One with whom I am not pleased with because breeding will not be an option with the female she sold me . Upside is it's really motivated me to learn more about the breed and breeding so that maybe someday I can please someone with a wonderful healthy dog I'm actually going to a show this month and hoping to learn more and maybe find a breeder with whom I can trust and eventually get a show quality female to breed or maybe just show...I just love Yorkies! I'd like to become one to preserve the standard Yorkie and make it easier to get a standard Yorkie as a pet and to do away with unethical breeders. They've always been my favorite dog breed! Soooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!! |

| While on vacation in South Beach, Miami this past November I got to see this breed in person. I instantly fell in love! Everyone had them down there. I looked at a tiny little girl in a pet store, but she was also being looked at by someone else. I got to hold her while the first lady looking ran out to her car. The lady decided to buy her and I had to hand her back. I sobbed like a 7 year old cause I just thought I had to have that dog. Came back home and the DH said "NO DOGS". Disappointingly, I put it to rest. A week later he tells me he will buy me one for Xmas. WOO HOOO...and Sophie arrives in my arms less than a week later. That's the "how". The "why". I don't know. I've never owned a dog before, even as a child. There were five kids in the house...no room for pets, as my parents would say. Now, I'm working on the DH to let me get a Biewer. Since Sophie proved to be challenging to potty train and has a "chew" problem, he has said even louder and stronger "NO DOG". But oooohhhhh I want another so badly..... |

| I loved the look of yorkies, when I was a kid a lady had a TINY TINY little female yorkie and I thought she was the CUTEST THING EVER!! I loved how they had the long flowy hair, the big standing ears, how you could put cute little bows in their hair!! I fel more in love with the fact that they don't shed. We travel in the summer alot to our MILS house and a small dog was something I could bring with me always and if I needed someone to watch her my mom would always watch a small dog, so a yorkie it was!! | I had my little terrier PTS (16yrs) and said no more. Can't go threw this pain again I thought. I have always had a dog in my life. My GF had a little Yorkie and after three years of being dogless I decided it was time again for a dog in my life. I tried for 9mos to rescue a homeless Yorkie from rescues but they never even answered me. I worked so that was a no-no to them. So buy one I did on my birthday 5/11/04 from a pet store in up state NY. Buddy was 14 wks old and weighed 6.5lbs. I loved his size. He was not friendly to me and only wanted to go back into his crate, the only home he ever knew I suppose. I didn't care ,I couldn't put him back into that crate. I bought him and have never, ever been sorry. He became my little shadow within a day, was easy to train and is my best friend. He's healthy, loving, smart and beautiful. |

| I had just finished chemo and radiation and had was stuck home feeling pretty aweful, I could not go back to work for a while until my blood levels were correct ( still working on that) , my children are 25,21 and 13 they all are very busy with thier own lives, school , working and my youngest is a competitive cheerleader, I had sickenss and empty nest syndrome , I went to a cancer support meeting where I had a melt down , a lady said did you ever thing of a dog, I thought Hmmm, she said they dont care if you look terrible one day, they dont care if you clean your house , they are glad to stay with you on the couch if you feel horrible one day... I discussed it with my Dr and she said yes great idea... I had radiation on my pelvic area which left them soar and a little bit of nerve damage so it had to be a small dog, I came home googled little dogs and decided on a Yorkie.. I thank god everyday for Laci she has been my angel.. she loves me no matter what I feel like, what I look like like, or if Im tired she still loves her mama |

| Our 15 yr old Westie had just passed away, my mom was in a nursing home seriously ill, my husband is a Parkinson patient and I had just retired from 40+ yrs in banking.... We both missed our little dog so much and we realized that we needed that "happiness and pure joy" that a dog brings to our lives. I wanted a Yorkie because of the size and beauty and we knew we loved terriers. A friend told us about a breeder he was friends with and we fell in love with Annie the first visit we made to see her. I call her out "stress-buster", when things get tense or sad, she's right there to cuddle up and give you that big juicy kiss to let you know she loves you....it makes everything better. Her zest for life is inspiring !! YORKIES FOREVER !!

| We live in the city, in a condo. Our association has a 20lb weight limit, so to a certain extent a small dog is our only option. I also work for myself, and wanted a pup that could go to the office, and travel with me fairly easily. Mobility is a must! I initially looked at cavaliers, but yorkies won me over once I started comparing the two breeds! We ended up getting Remy from a "hobby" breeder, probably a 'byb' breeder in site lingo... but she is came across very dedicated, diligent, and informed. |

| I've wanted a Yorkie since I was little. I always thought they were the cutest little dogs. We were not allowed to have pets when we were children because my mother does not like animals. I never thought I'd be able to afford to have a Yorkie, but got an opportunity through my son. He's been dating a girl for over 2 years now whose family has a Yorkie. They decided to breed her one more time and offered us our choice of the litter at half price of what they charge others. I saved my spending money for months so I could get one. |
