| ![]() I bought Spencer, my first Yorkie, with my jack-pot bingo winnings...hubby told me I could spend it on anything I wanted and I wanted a Yorkie. We found him...or should I say he found us at a breeders home nearby. That was 17 years ago...Winston is my second Yorkie. You know the old story, once you have a Yorkie...you'll always have a Yorkie. I know I will never be Yorkieless.

| ![]() So on Feb 20th of this year I brought Couver home and have been in love ever since! ![]() Couver - I love that name - so unique! ![]() I got "my" very first dog, a schnauzer mix, from a rescue right before my youngest daughter married and left home. Sadly, Toby was only with us 4.5 years when he became ill (seizures, blindness, tremors) and I had him pts. ![]() ![]() ![]()

| ![]() For many years, every time I would see a Yorkie, I would have to stop and talk to them and ask the owner if I could pet them. I loved their adorable faces and personality. One year after losing our 20 year old cat, I decided to start my search for my Yorkie. I spoke to a referred breeder and due to various circumstances was never able to meet with her since she lived several hours away from me. After sitting by a couple at a Little Richard concert in Mississippi and hearing about their Yorkie, I contacted their breeder. Well, it was meant to be. She had puppies that would be available in about 5 weeks. My daughter and granddaughter were going to be in that area soon. They went to the breeder and chose my JoJo. In fact, when they started to leave, he stood up on the side of the kennel and started howling. The breeder said the puppies had never acted that way before. We went back several weeks later and brought our baby home. It was love at first sight. |

| ![]() I chose to adopt a Yorkie, because I wanted a cute small dog that was playful. Before adopting Josh, I owned a Shih Tzu. My Shih Tzu, Daisy, is a sweet, laidback, and obedient dog. She loves to be pampered and treated like a baby. I love to pamper and treat her like a baby. She dislikes going on long walks and playing fetch. I always wanted a dog that plays fetch and enjoys long walks. For my second dog, I chose a breed that would most likely enjoy those activities that my Shih Tzu dislikes. I got Josh from a breeder. |

| ![]() we had never had a dog..always cats. We had moved 8 hrs away from family and I was beyond sad..missed family and grandkids so much..could hardly get outa bed.one day hubby suggested getting a puppy..I said NO then I started researching online..and decided I wanted a Morkiepoo. we went to the breeder's and he had morkie's and yorkiepoo's..I looked and thought..yeah theyre all cute abut didnt think I'd be able to give the love and attention a pup would need. started to go towards the car and this tiny little thing scrambled over all the puppies and jumped up crying and reaching towards us! Hubby picked Abbey up and hasnt put her down yet. she goes everywhere with us...love my cats but they are so independent where abbey wants 100% attention and gets it. she has helped me so much with my being lonely for family..she is my baby and I cant imagine life without her. |

| ![]() All my life I've had severe allergies. As a child I had a teacup poodle puppy (poor tiny thing died after a few months) and a shih tzu (purebred stolen from the backyard). As an adult I really wasn't thinking of ever having a dog again due to the extreme allergic reactions I had to my previous dogs. But I got married and my husband loves dogs and wanted one so I started researching less allergy symptom inducing breeds. I also wanted a small dog that I could take places with me. We both work full time and I didn't want to get a dog just to leave it home alone 8 hours a day. I have nothing against that. I just feel too guilty so I wanted one I could cart around. ![]() I narrowed the list down to a Yorkie, Poodle or Bichon. We really wanted to adopt one. So when 8 year old Teddy was surrendered to a local shelter we took him home for a week to foster him to make sure he would be happy with us. He was turned in on Monday, March 30 and I took him home on Wednesday, April 1. Of course we couldn't give him back. Hes too sweet. But we got more than we bargained for. Because I picked him up him so early he never got a proper Vet exam and we didn't know he had so many health problems. We knew he was blind from a cataract in one eye but we didn't know he was developing one in the other eye and was almost totally blind. We also didn't know his teeth were a disaster. $600 later hes had 4 pulled and is on an antibiotic to clear up the infection around another molar. If the Vet pulls many more he'll be gumming his food. ![]() Still, we are SO happy to have the little love bug and wouldn't change a thing. Hes such a loving little (well, maybe teapot sized) boy and a joy to have around. The longer hes with us the more of his crazy personality we get to see. Funny boy! Sorry this turned out so long. Its so much fun reading everyone else's stories about their sweeties. Keep them coming please. |

| ![]() Well, ours is a pretty weird story. We had tried to adopt a mexican street dog months and months prior and that is when we found my husbandito is allergic to dogs (and cats). The kids (14, 13, 9 and 7 now) really wanted a dog and in the 3 days we had Luna (our attempt to adopt a Mexican street dog) we fell hard for her. I was shocked at how easy it was to fall in love with an animal. I looked a hypoallergenic dogs and found that not only was there no way we could afford one, but they really didn't exist here in Mexico. Last November some missionaries arrived at our colony and they were (hobby?) breeding Yorkies. My kids fell in LOVE with the puppies (they were born at the end of November) and visited them daily. The breeders wanted $1200USD for the puppies though and there was just no way. The missionaries, however, were very intent on converting our family (we're athiest but honestly, I don't care what the kids believe, I'll support anything) to Christianity and decided in February to "infuse" one of the puppies with the "holy spirit" and gave him to us - thinking the dog would bring us around to Christianity. (where is that confused shrugging icon? ![]() At any rate, we're still atheist, but very much in love with the puppy. We called him Kilo as he weighed about a kilo (now he's 2-3 I think) and while I always envisioned myself with a very short-haired street dog, much much larger than a Yorkie, we're all very much in love. And so far dog ≠ god. ![]() |
