| Scary moment with Jackson! First, he seems to be fine now but I may bring him into the vet tomorrow AM just to check and be safe. So where we live (out in the "Country!") it's on 3 acres of land and behind us is 60 acres of farmland not owned by us. Jackson loves it out here. I let him roam around leash-free but only when I am outside with him to watch him and make sure he doesn't wander too far. Well, the farm (who owns the land behind us) owns 3 Black Labs. Two of them are very nice and friendly, the third is always friendly to humans but can get growly with dogs. So, I saw the Black lab outside and of course Jackson gets SO excited because he absolutely loves other dogs. I always let him have the chance to go see other dogs. I didn't know which black lab this was, they all look the same. So I have Jackson on the leash/harness to let him see the dog... well, I couldn't find my regular leash, so I grabbed the closest one which was the retractable leash, I hardly use unless we're on a beach or open field, etc. So, Jackson ran out, all friendly and wanting to sniff the dog and SNAP, the Black Lab bit Jackson in the face. Thank GOD, I grabbed him real quick and thank god the black lab "just" did a quick bite because what if he hadn't of let go? Ugh, can't imagine. So I get Jackson in the house real quick (we were right by the door into our house) and he just YELPS repeatedly for a good 30 seconds and then stopped. He broke the skin a tiny bit on the top of his nose and part of his mouth was bleeding - I have a feeling it made it worse that he had his teeth pulled 6 days ago so he's still really sore. At first I thought the dog had yanked one of Jackson's front teeth out, but I think what had happened was the skin/gum got ripped a bit. He drank water right away and stopped crying after that 30 seconds and I don't see any other wounds anywhere right now. But I was so scared & upset! I just wanted to cry! My poor baby. He seems absolutelty fine right now except a little shaken up, maybe. But he drank a lot of water and he even ate a bit of my roast beef that we had had for dinner.. I may bring him into the vet tomorrow just to check him out, though. I don't want to go to an emergency vet because of the extra money it would be, especially if he is totally fine right now. Also, thankfully, Jackson is a bigger boy at 13lbs because if he was smaller, I think this dog could've hurt him alot worse! But ya know, I'm pissed off at myself because I should have known better! But I was trying to be nice to Jackson and let him see the other dog so he would stop freaking out from inside the house. He seriously LOVES other dogs!! I hope this doesn't change that. And I'm mad because yes, we live on a farm technically and yes the 60 acres of farmland behind us is THEIR property but I just wish they could control their dogs more. It happened on OUR property and my dog was leashed!! It's just so frustrating. It's one thing to let a dog loose if it's friendly but if it has aggression problems, probably not smart.

BANNED FOR NOT SENDING A GE GIFT! | Omg Can you, in a nice way, ask the farmers to at least keep the snarly one at home, not on your property? I know farm dogs run, but your little guy should be able to go out in his yard, and who knows now how he will react to other "friends" he meets.....glad he seems ok, sad that it had to happen |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | How scary! Thanks goodnes Jackson was ok! It could have been alot worse! Maybe try to talk to them about what happened. You may want to think about fencing in an area outside for Jackson to beable to play outside and not have to worry about the other dogs! (Just a thought) Hope Jackson will be ok!

First pic (excuse Jackson's old messy pre-cut hair! lol) You can see our front yard covers the majority of the 3 acres we own) Second pic - the backyard. Our property ends about 5 feet after that tree. But, he must be feeling better because hes crying to go outside! i'm gonna put him on the leash now that the other dog is gone! Be back later!

| I have the same problem with some of my neighbors. We live on 2 acres and our neighbors have a german shepherd and a miniture pinture that they seem to let run free whenever they want. I don't let my little one out but I put my other dogs out on dog runs. The dogs next door will always come charging at my dogs and try to attack. It is to the point the my golden doesn't ever want to go out anymore.

| Poor little Jackson. I'm glad he didn't get hurt any worse. I can't believe they let that dog roam if he has aggression issues. I hope Jackson will be ok. Poor little guy, he has had a bad week! Hugs to Jackson!!!

| If I were you, I would take Jackson to the vet. Especially if he as bleeding. Because he could get an infection from the injury sustained from the bite. This is what I would be most concerned about. The vet needs to look at his tooth to make certain it was not loosened from the attack. I would be certainly under the safe side of things/because a bite is not something to take lightly. I am glad you were comfortable to text the son of the owner. After taking Jackson to your vet , Perhaps your parents can become involved in speaking to the owners further and have them put up the vet bill for their agressive lab who was on YOUR property when the incident occured. Take pictures of Jackson's injury as further evidence of his injury. Please take him to your vet, for his well being and health.

| That must have been a very scary incident. I am so glad that your precious little Jackson is ok!!! It is very unfortunate when people let their dogs run, especially when they are grumpy. We live on 14 acres in the country - the closest house is about 1/4 mile away. BUT daily we see "neighborhood" dogs roaming through our yard and leaving presents . I have posted before about one neighbor's MEAN DOGS chasing our baby horses . We are no longer breeding horses, but the MEAN DOGS still live next door and wander on to our property. |

And it sucks, doesn't it? I hate that certain dogs/owners ruin it for the rest! Your poor Golden!

Yeah, our house is set up on hill and there is one house next door to us, blocked by huge trees. Then you turn to the right of that pic of the backyard I posted, go down about a half a male and that's the farm... There's also a horse farm sort of "below" us, as they do not sit up on the big hill like we do. Even though we're in the "country" we're also about ten minutes away from Annapolis, pretty close to DC and Baltimore too, so it's sort of the best of both worlds!

| Question... Should I put peroxide or something on Jackson's cut? It's very small on his nose, but it did show blood/red a bit. Or is that not OK to do?
