| Lily barks at EVERYTHING!! She has that high pitched bark that you can't imagine comes from a 3 pound dog!! She doesn't listen to ANYTHING!! She has to argue with me and have the "last word"!!LOL She turned a year old in March and I think she is getting worse instead of calming down?? NOTHING phases her!! Water bottles, coins in a can, ignoring her, scolding her NOTHING!! She runs the house!!lol She is great with the potty training now and everything else. She doesn't chew up anything in the house when we leave her or anything like that. She is a BARKER though!! Guess you have to take the good with the bad and love them to pieces!! Lily is spoiled rotten!! |

YT 500 Club Member | I would have to say that it depends. I think our neighbors would say "YES". Ours can be very quiet, but give her a sunny day and a window with lots to see, and we have a major barkfest.

| Chloe Primrose barks at everything. What is most disturbing is lately she has started barking at the iron while I am ironing clothes for the next day. She absolutely goes ballistic! Also when we are coming in or going out, basically any time the door is opened. Now she is going bersek when I take a trash bag from the pail to take it outside. I don't know of anyone who has had this type of barking. She is very excitable about everything tho, or couldn't you tell. Any ideas? |

Donating YT 11K Club Member | I think sometimes they bark a lot when there is too much energy in the house. My male barks when the door bell rings and i say thank you Teddy and he quiets down. Thats mostly only when they bark

| Noelle is not a big barker. She barks to alert me to the doorbell.( as if I can't hear it myself ) And she barks if I don't notice her standing there looking at me when she needs something. (like her water dish refilled or an ice cube) or if she wants picked up and I don't notice her staring up at me. But just to bark for no reason, no she doesn't. |

| Hi, I have two yorkies (Lola 19 months and Jojo (almost 5). Jojo is quiet as ever. You wouldn't even know there was a dog in the house. He played "Toto" in our community production of the Wizard of Oz. People asked if we gave him tranquilizers....that's how docile he is. Lola on the other hand....she's a barker. Not for no reason but anything in the back yard, the door, any sudden noises, you name it! I think it's just the different personalities. I will say though that Lola has settled down substantially as she grows up and expecially since she became a Mom last month. Good Luck |

| I have 3 Yorkies, and Tucker is my barker. When I walk in the house from being gone, they all bark like crazy. He is actually teaching Cooper now. Yikes!

I always tell him thank you and identify the source of the need to alert us and tell him that I've got it under control and he can back off. But I never discipline him for barking. I figure that's his job - as long as he doesn't abuse it. | |

YT Addict | Knowing Yorkies can be yappers, I was on her as soon as I brought her home. I used the penny in the can trick to train it out of her. Now she only barks when someone comes to the door, and that is probably because the other dogs make such a fuss. She'll also bark if she wants inside.. Overall I'd say she barks more than any other dog. My neighbors yorkie however is a barking machine - I don't know how they do it.
