Kilo is pretty much the same way - he hardly ever barks but there is always a LOT of commotion around him - our house is outside so there are strangers and cars driving past constantly. He doesn't like big yellow things though. A few days ago a lady with big baggy yellow pants was across the road and he was growling and barked a couple times. This morning Don Beto (local gardener) had a large yellow bag he was filling with leaves and Kilo growled. he LOVES Don Beto so it wasn't him - I think large yellow things freak him out.
I always tell him thank you and identify the source of the need to alert us and tell him that I've got it under control and he can back off. But I never discipline him for barking. I figure that's his job - as long as he doesn't abuse it.
