What tags does your pup wear?

Ted has a name I.D. tag with all of our information
listed on it as well as his rabies tag and city license.
These are all attached to his collar which is only
worn when we are out and about along with his
harness.

sorry if this sounds dumb.. and sorry to go a bit off topic.. but what exactly are the steps to becoming registered to the state?

i didn't know i had to get a license for our doggies and all that fun stuff..

In California, you are required to get your dogs licensed, you will be fined if they catch you in public with them and they are not license. I've only been asked once for proof of registration since I've had Bella and it was at a park. Here are the links to find out more on it:

You will need their rabies paper work to send in along with the fee. The price difference in the fee depends on whether or not your dog is spayed/neutered. It's a BIG difference. However, if you are ever caught, it's a pretty hefty fine.

There is a difference between registering with Los Angeles County and Los Angeles City. I can't remember which one I had to register with because I live in the County and the City of Los Angeles. I called one of the numbers on the site and they directed me. Because Bella was spayed, I think I paid something like $10-15. They should be able to give you all the information if you call.

For now Deegan only wears his name/address tag on his harness. He's going to be microchipped in a couple of weeks, then I will add that to it too. It's nice that it does make some sort of jingly noise, that way I can tell where he is in the house.

Matise has 3 things on his collar,
An id tag which says:
If I am alone, I am lost. Reward if found. 954-***-****
I didn't put his name on it, I didn't want to make it easy for the theives to know his name.

His rabies tag which also has his license # on it.

And a red crystal heart charm that his Aunt (my sister) gave him for christmas.

I have not microchipped him and am very torn on the subject. So I don't yet know what I will do about that.
I like the idea about putting the extra things beside his id tag on the leash. He has 2 collars one that matches his leash and a PURDUE one for when he wants to have team spirit and a harness, it just depends on what he wants to wear so I am always changing them around. He never wears them at home. I have an alarm on my house and He is never unattended so Someone would literally have to rip him from my cold, dead hands to take him away from me. Living here I am always paranoid about him being stolen and NEVER let strangers hold him. Sometimes I think that I am too paranoid about him being stolen.

I keep a collar on her at all times with a tag that includes her name, my phone number and address. Desi has been known to run out the door and with kids the door is always opening and closing. The collar is only to hold the tag because I use a harness when I walk her. If we are going out and no one is going to be home then I take her collar off and leave her in her X-pen. I'm alway afraid to leave her collar on after I heard of an accident where a little Yorkie was strangled by his collar. Actually, it happened to a YT member and I've haven't able to get that out of my mind.

At home mine don't wear anything. When we go out they wear a harness with a name tag, rabbies, and a yorkie guardian angel tag. Maddie and Rudy have the harnesses, haven't found one small enough for Polly, so she has a collar with a bell and name tag. If I had a house full of people I would keep something on them all the time, but it is just me.

maisy doesnt wear a collar because it could her her throat and trachea. i do have all her tags together and they are able to be attached to her leash when we go on walk. but she wears a harness vest not a collar.

My babies do not wear collars or harnesses except when we are out and about. Attached to their harnesses is a tag with their name and my phone #.
