I Love Thor Donating Member | What tags does your pup wear? I feel like there are 1000 tags for dogs to wear. Their name tags, then there is a rabies tag, and a tag comes with a microchip. What tags does your dog wear? I don't want my guys collar to turn into a charm bracelet! But if he got lost I want ppl to know that he is microchipped! Yikes, decisions decisions! Hannah |

| I don't have a collar on Coco because I'm afraid for her trachae collapsing. I will be registering her with the county for her rabies tags and liscense.

| Bella wears a tag with her name and my cell phone number on it. Underneath my phone number, I had the word MICROCHIPPED put in there as well. In Los Angeles, to get your dog licensed, you have to have rabies documents sent in as well. So I keep her license tag on the holder of the retractable leash. So really, she only "wears" one tag that states many things on it. I was the same way as you, I didn't want her collar to turn into a charm bracelet. And Bella only wears tags when she is outside our house, otherwise, she's a naked dog! Hope this helps.

| Jingle ..Jingle..Jingle.. Sophie has a name tag and rabies tag...but they hang off her leash...lol Whe doesn't wear a collar... And wears harness's on walks. On a funny note...I did try to attatch the tag to her harness once She did all kinds of rolls and twists and turns trying to get the tag off her back ..lol...she didn't like the slight jingle it made on her..lol We will be adding a micro chip tag once she is spayed and I have that done then-

| I have yet to register Olivia with the city, so she only has her ID tag on her harness. I don't know if it's necessary to have a rabies tag on her, but we've never had them on our dogs. On Olivia's tag, I have her name, my name, my phone number, and the phrase: Needs meds daily. It sounds kind-of dorky, but I once read that this statement could detour people from keeping her knowing that she needs medicine daily. Instead of that phrase, you could put the database in which she is registered or the phrase "please scan microchip". The machine at WalMart gave me tons of space to write, and I think they allowed up to 5 lines, so there's plenty of room to write the info. |

I Love Thor Donating Member | Okay thanks guys, this is interesting to know. But one question for the people that have the tags attacked to the leash, what if they some how escape? You never know what could happen, but they would be without their info. Thor has a collar, but the only purpose it serves is to hold his info, name and my cell #. I like the 'needs meds' line! I also like the idea of making your own tag with 'microchipped' on it. Thanks |

| Mine is naked! No collar unless we go out and even then I just haven't put tags on them. I've got my documentation, I need to see about registering with the county...

| I only carry the license tag on the leash to prevent us from getting a fine from the City. If I were stopped, I can show them that she's registered. But on her collar or harness is where she has the tag with the name, contact number and MICROCHIPPED on it. I figure that if they see the word MICROCHIPPED on the tag, then I wouldn't need to put the chip's tag itself.

| Gidget just wears her license (cant get one of those without a rabies shot so it is a 2 in 1 I guess) and her name tag with my cell # and the city we live....But I like the idea of having it say microchiped....my # is changing in Dec so when I change her tag I will add that thanks for the idea. |

| Gus doesn't wear his tags unless we have people over and or if we go somewhere. And that's only because of him getting loose or getting out while company is coming and going. The only tag Gus wears is the one I got at petsmart. It has all the info on it. Address, phone # and his name. The only other one I have is the rabies tags. I did have them both on for a while but it was too much for his tiny neck.

| Loki would be one to escape, and we don't have a fenced yard so he goes outside on a leash 15 times a day and putting his easy walk (training harness) on him every time would be a fight - SO he wears his collar all the time with his name/phone#/address on it and his rabies tag. We get ticketed in our neighborhood for not having it and we never take the same leash, so it stays on him and I like it that way. I will definately add "microchipped" to his tag! I take his collar off if we will be away from home. He always stays in his cage when we are not home. |

| Max would wear his name tag with phone numbers. I put his county tag, rabies tag and micro chip tag on his leash, mostly because he was so tiny I worried about the weight around his neck and 2, he chewed on them. His microchip tag was completely unreadable after he chewed it up. I too worried about them being on the leash if he got away from me because then they'd be of no help. I had been trying to think of a way to create a collar wherein the tags were inserted into them, looking like a design. That way there was nothing hanging from his neck. But it only got as far as a thought. They need to create something more appropraite for the extra small dogs. Last edited by Tiggerwit; 09-09-2005 at 09:38 AM. Reason: spelling error |
