| ![]() She knew better... she was probably 30. I was quite offended by the comment.

| ![]() Everyone often mistakes my boys as girls too...sometimes I go along with it...other times I just smile and say they are all boys...and joke about them not being able to tell with the "manly" bows they are wearing..... sometimes I explain that Yorkies often top knots...depends on my mood... I try not to get too bothered by it...I have all male dogs...so unless a dog is in pink I often refer to their dogs as boys...so I guess others could get upset by me too :-)

| ![]() Mine are both 11lbers and most people seem to assume they are both boys-1boy 1girl (even with a bow in her hair), . But people are just ....... Years ago I had my son (skin kid) in a stroller. He had a little white and navy blue sailor suit on and some woman said "oh, isn't SHE cute". I tend to just smile at them and don't have time to justify it.

Donating YT 11K Club Member | ![]() Don't even get me started! lol i know how you feel. I also keep Teddy's hair like that and ppl always think he's a girl. I tell them he is metrosexual like David Beckam LOL Yesterday i was in the store with my bf and Teddy and a guy goes 'i guess he should date the dog and not you' cause Teddy looked like a girl with a purple hairclip. The guy was just trying to make us laugh, which i did cause its not that serious anyway. I didn't even notice Teddy had a purple hair clip anyway, i try to put blue and green but they fall off and they end up all over the place so i just put which ever hair clip i find closest to me most times, which belong to the girls also.

| ![]() Everyone assumes Norman (shih tzu) is a girl now that his hair is long enough to pull up out of his eyes. I just smile and tell them "REAL men wear ponytails!" ![]()

Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() I dont know why people always assume that. But I at one time would assume the something before I knew anything about yorkies and one person told me that females where the girlie colors and boys wore the boy colors that would probably help me tell them apart but, then what happens if you have neutral colors on?

| ![]() I'm glad I'm not the only one frustrated with this... Some people have no tact! I also hate the comments about how "that's not a real dog!" My husband said to say to them next "So just because your husband is not 6 foot tall, does that make him not a man?!" (My husband is 6'4" and thought it was funny...) haha I can't wait to pull that one out ![]()

| ![]() I wouldnt worry about it. I have 2 boys of my own and while I am growing coat they will always have topknots. I guess I am a little callus to it because in addition to the topknots I get all sorts of nasty comments when people see them in wraps. Just be nice and play into it. I have some very creative stories I use when people make comments on the hair wraps ![]() As long as your dogs are happy, healthy and well-cared for, if you choose to put a topknot or boy in his hair it is nobody else's business. ![]() Btw--your boy is a cutie!! | ![]() I would try and remind myself that these comments are coming from people who probably have no experience with Yorkies, therefore they have no idea what they're talking about. Hold your head high and ignore it.

| ![]() Boy dogs wear bows in dog shows. You could say he is metrosexual. LOL Josh will be wearing bows too when his hair grows longer. I think the bows make the boy and girl Yorkies look adorable. Why should the girl dogs have all the fun? Everybody has their own opinion on how to style their dog's hair. Do what is best for you and your dog. You are not hurting the dog so what is their problem. Some people need to mind their own business. Last edited by JoshieBoy; 04-12-2009 at 05:36 PM. |

| ![]() Harley gets mistaken for a girl alot also. I usually just have a clear band on him, but even when he wears his "man bows" (camo w/ helicopter, black w/ motorcycle) people still make comments about how pretty "she" is. If it is a total stranger, I just say thank you and go on about my business, but if it is someone I know I will usually correct them. My poor mom sees Harley all the time and calls him her/she about 50% of the time. I think it is the pretty flowing hair, she never calls my brother wienie dog a girl! Jeri and Harley ![]() I thought that it was so odd last night on "Groomer Has It" when the girl was talking about the other team wasting time putting bows on a boy dog! Harley always leaves the groomer with a bow... |
