| Vet negligence Where (agency or Bar Associacion) can a vet be reported if he misdiagnosed my pet and that lead to her death? I was told she had a congenital malformation, he performed surgery and her condition worsened. When I took her to a specialist. I was told that surgery was needed to repair the problem. I had to put her down shortly. Now the breeder won't take responsiblity because they claim the surgery was unnecesary. I am left with no furbaby and no one claiming responsibility. If I take the breeder or the vet to court I will be spending thousands that I don't have. I have already spent at least $5,000 on surgery and the price I paid for her. |

| I am so sorry to hear about your loss. What an awful thing for you to have to go through. I don't know who you would report a vet to, but could you call a lawyer's office and ask? Or a vet school or your city/state government office? Or I'm sure someone here will know.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I am so very sorry for your loss. A friend of mine went through something similar with her poodle. Her regular vet performed the surgery...and subsequently she had to take her to an ER vet. The ER clinic diagnosed the dog properly, provided care but the dog had to be pts anyway. My friend found a vet who read the file from the ER vet's and was willing to testify if it went to court. My friend contacted the original vet with this information....and he refunded her the cost she'd paid to him plus the 5000.00 bill from the ER clinic. This may be an option for you too. Btw, if you chose to sue...civil filings only cost $35 here in Va. It's not necessary to have a lawyer...just have all your documentation available. Good luck.

Each state has it's own vetrinary medical board. Here is a link to a list of boards: State Veterinary Medical Boards Maybe you can go to the website for your state and see if there is a contact person for this type of complaint. My state has a form on their website that you print and fill out if you have a complaint against a vet.

I have tried to get the breeder to replace her his lawyer claims that she had to be put down because of the vet's negligence. I have the two parties pointing fingers at each other. | |
