Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Help - Any suggestions? I realize this is a very rare situation but I have new pigeon chicks on my balcony. This wasn't by my choice but I really am quite delighted. I have three Yorkies and one Himalayan who have access to the balcony 24/7. I have barricaded Mom and babies off so my furbabies can't get to them. The feline and two of my Yorkies show no interest at all.... but Emily (5) constantly wants to sit beside the barricade, No barking or whining she just wants to be there. It is more like an obsession. This morning before I came to work I just caved in dressed her up and put a bed out there. I am in Vancouver and we had late snow yesterday! Do you think this is harmful to her? Can she get a cold? I can't just shut the door as there is a litter box and piddle pads out there... To see pictures of brand new baby pigeons go to my blog at Sapphire's Closet - Blog - Mar 29,2009-babies! Gillian |

| welcome to YT! Hmm - not sure what to say, if she is not bothering the birds, it may be ok - but the momma bird might not feel that why. Graylene - a YT member does bird rescue, she may be able to give you better advice

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Pigeon Problem! What a beautiful picture of your Yorkies! Thank you for the suggestion - I will follow up on your advice. Emily seems to be calming down and today didn't seem nearly as interested. Fingers crossed - she's over it. Gillian, Georgie, Emily and Sapphires |

| I wasn't able to link to the photo. Sounds like Emily is totally fascinated by the birds. Maybe she is guarding them! Too cute! At least it was a little warmer there today. |

| I have cocketiels that are in a cage who sit on eggs .... My Suzi is also very curious with them! She does whine, and paw at their cage. Sometimes even barks ... Well a lot of times barks. the male is nippy , but never hurts her. I am unsure If I'd leave my yorkie on the Balcony though. That would concern me. More for safety reasons and the temp. I am thinking the Pigeons nest is high enough that it is at a safe distance so that is not a concern. Baby pigeons do not leave the nest for a long time. It's better to keep all your Yorkie's inside together where it's warm and safe

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Pigeons and Yorkies Thank you for your input. The balcony is safe but I appreciated your comments about the elements. I didn't know if the cold would affect her health. She normally hates the cold. She had calmed down today thank goodness. The baby pigeons have doubled in size in one week. I pick her up and show them to her just so she knows what the cooing is all about. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Baby Pigeon Pictures link It is on my blog at Sapphire's Closet - Sapphire's Closet Homepage The whole process is just amazing to me. Why these sweet birds choose my balcony for their new family is beyond my comprehension???!!! It is quite fascinating to be able to capture their birth, growth and development and put it up on the computer minutes later!! It's a first for me - baby pigeons! |

| The link that you posted doesn't work Gillian. I think it's exactly what you thought. Emily is being maternal, that is so sweet. It's a good thing that you keep her bundled up and the weather is getting warmer. She seems to be quite the little babysitter. I'd just let her enjoy the birdies, soon they will grow up and leave their nest. What a neat experience for Emily.
