I think it's exactly what you thought. Emily is being maternal, that is so sweet. It's a good thing that you keep her bundled up and the weather is getting warmer. She seems to be quite the little babysitter. I'd just let her enjoy the birdies, soon they will grow up and leave their nest. What a neat experience for Emily.
