| When we first got him, DH wanted to call him Max. I said no b/c it is such a common name. So my father in law came up with another name. Charlie's name isn't really charlie. It is actually Cha-Lie which means "the brave one" in my language. I just called him Charlie b/c it sounds similar. DH refused to call him charlie instead he always say Cha-Lie. Charlie responds to both. |

| My husband likes puns and plays on words. Long before I actually got my Yorkie, he had decided that the dog's name would be "Puddin'" as in "Yorkshire Pudding." I had a list of a dozen or more possible names for her picked out, my two favourites being "Ghillie" and "Cerise," but he would have no part of them...it had to be Puddin' !

| Tobie got his name because 1. I really like that name, 2. It was the only name my hubby and I could agree on and 3. I love the movie Labyrinth and the baby's name in that movie is Toby. My Rattie Jasmine got her name because I was 12 years old and the movie Aladdin had just come out. It was my sister's and my favorite movie at the time. My Cocker Caz got his name because I was a HUGE fan of the band Hanson (we got Caz in '98) and the drummers name was Zac so Caz is Zac backwards. lol

| Well, we wanted our dog's name to have some significance in our lives, so we named him after the city that my husband is from: Vancouver, B.C. And Couver it was!

| What a great idea for a thread! I love reading everyones inspirations for their babies names. Thanks for sharing!!! Mine are: Barley (Yorkie) was named when we rescued him. In the sad, sick and skinny condition he was in I just couldn't change it. Now, he comes to "where's my boy" too Mischa (toy poodle) I wanted something French (she was born in 2000, so it's before 9-11 and the whole F...France thing). I seen in a baby name bookd that it means little one in French, so it was a fit. Garrett (Great Pyrenees) Growning up I had a GP and lived in a neighborhood that we teenagers were very proud of. It was called Garrett's Run. So I knew that when I got a GP I would like to call him something to show the love and respect I had for the GP that I grew up with and to respect the neighborhood where we spent all my fond memories at. She was Buffie, big, white beautiful Buffie. She went through the preteen, teenaged and young adult life with me. Man, it's been 14 years and I still miss her like crazy.

YT 500 Club Member | What a fun thread to read! My DH and I took several weeks to name our pup. We called her "Baby Y" before we brought her home and had decided on her name. Top names in the running were: Coco, Coconut, Mango, and... I forget the others. DH wanted to give her a big 'tough dog' name like "Killer". (Yeah, RIGHT!) She was so small when we got her (a mere 1 lb 1 oz) and her expected adult weight was in the 3 lb range, so I suggested the name "Megatron" as a joke over dinner. It stuck! Of course we call her "Meg" normally. "Megatron" is her 'bad doggie' name. I *love* the name Nemo!
