| No suggestions but I'm going throught the same thing with a 2 yr old rescue I just got Wednesday It is very frustrating since I've never had potty problems with any other dog ever but I guess everyone is just going to say have patience. Can you try every hour instead of every 2? It's the only thing I can think of. I've used pee pads & once they get that I have taken the pee pad out in the back yard & presto it always worked before but not with my 2nd yorkie. I'm sure she will eventually get the hang of it. Good luck & if you find any "secret" let me know MOMMY TO PRECIOUS & PRINCESS |

| Sorry, I'm no help. I'm having trouble with my girl too. She's great with potty pads, but has never gone outside. I've taken used potty pads out there. I even bought a couple pieces of sod because my yard was just dirt. Still nothing. She goes on the pad as soon as we come in.

YT 1000 Club Member | Roxie is 2 and still not completely potty trained. I've never had a problem with any other dog either. I've been really watching her body language to make sure I catch it in time. She doesn't do too bad, but for some reason I have a hard time getting her to use the potty pad inside consistantly. She'll either pee on the floor a little ways away from it (tile floor) or on a throw rug. I've picked up whatever throw rugs I can for awhile to see if that helps. I wish us all luck. I heard Archie has great advice about this. We should flag her down and ask her. |

| Potty outside I agree that taking them outside every two hours or so is very important until they catch on. But what I find works is if they don't go potty when outside, put in crate when you get back in if the dog doesn't go. Then in about a half hour, try again. Each time the dog goes, praise and give a treat. If it doesn't go, don't yell at it just put it back in the crate instead of letting run in the house. Yorkie's are pretty smart and social. They catch on pretty quick if they want to have fun outside the crate, they need to go when outside. But you have to be consistent in doing this and take out at the same place each time as well.

| potty I am having the same problem. Sometimes Gunner will go outside sometimes he likes to wait till he comes in. He will go on a pee pad or on the floor makes no difference to him. It has been raining here alot and he doesn't seem to like going outside when it is wet. Wondering when I should get rid of the pee pads or am I going to be just cleaning the floors?? He doesn't like treats either so that is not an incentive for him. Karen |

| From what I've read, Yorkies can be VERY difficult to house train. Looks like these posts confirm what I've read. Jemma is 4 months and still, she'll go to the wee wee pads, most of the time, but not always. But poop? No way will she go on the wee wee pad. grrrrrrrr |

| I'm in the boat with you all..... Hey maybe we can have a "potty party club" It does get so frustrating. I have 2 other dogs and NEVER did I have such a hard time training. SHe mostly poops outside, she comes running to the door when she has to go, she looks like she's in a hurry let her out the sliding door and she runs over to the grass BUT tinkle, well my tile floor is a potty pad. I know she knows how to go out side but she is just stubborn. Last night I was so mad, I had just had her out side for a good hour playing and such. I stopped took her to a different area (where she goes potty) then ignored her and said ok potty potty waited for about 10 min. she sniffed and sniffed, I thought oh she must of gone when I wasn't looking. Brought her back in. 2 min.s later there was a puddle by the glass door. I lost it I picked her up took her by the potty gave her a little shake and yelled in her face NO ! NO! Potty outside! and then I did the unthinkable I gave her a tiny swat on her fanny. I know I know I'm gonna get lots of flack for that. But confession is good for the soul. It was almost like she looked at me and said " oh you want me to do this out side" why didn't you say so.... That was last night at 7:00 and so far she hasn't gone in the house. She even just did a little woof to go out side. I don't know if she went potty because I was in here confessing. |

| All I have to say is to have patience and be persistant. Kobe was like that too. I trained him on the pads at first and then after a couple of months, when I wanted him to go outside, I would walk him for about 30 minutes every day. He would do absolutely nothing and come right back into the house and do it on the pads until one day he lifted his little leg and peed. OMG I was so excited. It took a couple of more days, then it just got to the point that he wouldn't go on the pads and just do everything outside. Now, I put the pads down when it's storming outside and he looks at me like I'm crazy. LOL

| no, not at all. But I still feel bad. Oh and as far as not peeing inside so far, she just did. But I said "Taylor.......potty out side" and she put her ears down and looked sorry full, so at least she know she did something wrong. Before the "unthinkable" she just looked at me like "hurry and clean that up so we can go play" Her little facial expressions and eyes and so sweet. <>< |
